What is Kate Middleton’s secret for a successful marriage?
Being married for 10 years is a huge milestone, and no doubt people are curious to know some secrets from this royal couple.
According to royal correspondent Camilla Tominey, Kate and William balance each other out with their respective personality traits. For example, Kate seems to know when to step back to let William shine.
“I think equally, one of the secrets of their success of their marriage is that they do seem much more equal than say, for instance, Charles and Diana,” Tominey said in the documentary Kate Middleton: Working Class to Windsor (via Express). “I think as well Kate has been very careful not to upstage her husband.”
Tominey added, “I think she is the yin to his yang, in that he – although a level-headed, down-the-line kind of guy – can be prone to a few temper tantrums, perhaps. And [William] likes to dig his heels in and knows his own mind. I think he can sometimes get quite angry, and one gets the impression that Kate is the one pulling him back, and reining him in, and saying, ‘Alright, let’s just keep calm.’”
Kate Middleton and Prince William promote open communication in their household
Many marriage experts urge couples to openly communicate with one another, and Kate and William seem to follow this guidance in their marriage.
According to a source who spoke to The Sun, Kate and William have household rules that include no shouting and never going to bed angry. Although the insider pointed out these rules apply to their children, it’s likely Kate and William apply it to their relationship as well. After all, kids often learn communication techniques from their parents.
“Emotional coaching is a Cambridge parental building block,” the source shared. “Awareness of others less fortunate than themselves, physical and mental health and going to sleep in a calm happy house is so utterly important to them all.”
