Katy Perry Admitted She Was Still ‘Madly in Love’ With John Mayer After Their Split
After her divorce from Russell Brand, Katy Perry began a relationship with fellow singer John Mayer. Their romance was not without its problems — they were on and off for several years — but Perry felt more warmly toward Mayer than she did toward her ex-husband. After one of their breakups, she publicly admitted that she still had strong feelings for him.

After 14 months of marriage, Perry and Brand divorced in 2012. While she said their breakup initially devastated her, she realized she had to let go of the relationship.
“I let go and I was like: This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me,” she told Vogue in 2013. “So I have moved on from that.”
She moved on to a relationship with Mayer, but she denied that he was a rebound or revenge partner.
“No, not at all. No, I was madly in love with him,” she said. “I still am madly in love with him.”
She said that Mayer fit her type almost exactly.
“All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind,” she said. “Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds.”
Given what she said about her feelings for him, it’s unsurprising that they got back together several times before ending things for good in 2015.

In 2013, Perry and Mayer recorded the song “Who You Love” together for his album Paradise Valley. While Mayer said he wasn’t the biggest fan of the album itself, he liked the song.
“I listen to that every once in a while, and I go, ‘I like that song,'” he said on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen (per E! News). “And I like the way that she sounds on the song. She got that way of singing down and met the challenge of that song. It was so much fun.”
Mayer also said that his 2017 song “Still Feel Like Your Man” was about his relationship with Perry.
She is currently in a relationship with Orlando Bloom
Not long after ending things with Mayer, Perry moved on to a relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. The two met at a Golden Globes after-party in 2016, and sources said there was an immediate chemistry between them. Before long, they made their relationship official and began spending time with each other’s families.
Though they broke up in early 2017, fans began spotting them together later that year. By 2018, they were officially back together.
Perry and Bloom got engaged in 2019 but chose to postpone their wedding. In 2020, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Daisy. While they still have yet to make it down the aisle, the couple has confirmed they are still working on planning their wedding.
