The 1997 film Contact earned praise from fans and critics alike. Who doesn’t love a film featuring Jodie Foster? In fact, one of Foster’s biggest supporters is RuPaul’s Drag Race’s own mountain biking vampire witch from the future, Katya Zamolodchikova. After years of promoting the film, Katya finally made contact with actress Jodie Foster.

Katya Zamolodchikova, from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and ‘UNHhhh,’ loves ‘Contact’

It’s no secret that former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant, Katya Zamolodchikova, loves Jodie Foster and the movie Contact. From wearing a Contact dress to performing the song “The Night Before Contact” on Trixie Mattel’s Christmas album, Katya has a way of sneaking extraterrestrial references onto social media and into her YouTube show with Trixie Mattel, UNHhhh.

In one episode of UNHhhh, Katya’s co-star, Trixie Mattel, expressed her love/hate relationship with Contact, ultimately deciding she won’t “Jodie Foster” that kind of behavior.

“I will tell you this, though. I have about 15 DVDs, a Blu-ray, and a VHS because people continue to give it to me,” Trixie Mattel said in an interview with Hello Giggles.

“Do you know that probably, in the mythology of our friendship, what’s gonna happen is she’ll watch it and die halfway through [watching Contact],” Zamolodchikova replied. Well, the narrative of their relationship with Contact just got a little more interesting. On July 7, 2019, Katya received a message from deep space.

The drag queen received an autograph from ‘Contact’ actress, Jodie Foster

Katya shared a picture on Twitter and Instagram of Jodie Foster as Dr. Ellie Arroway in Contact. The photograph was autographed by the actress, stating, “to Katya, ‘small waves…’ Jodie Foster.” Naturally, Katya was “truly gagged” by the autograph and the recognition.

“You’re an interesting species. An interesting mix. You’re capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares,” one Instagram comment said, quoting the original film.

What’s next for Katya, Trixie Mattel, and Jodie Foster’s relationship? In an interview with Out Magazine, Katya explained that her dream guest to feature on UNHhhh would be — you guessed it —Jodie Foster.

“I want a time-travel episode with Jodie Foster,” Katya said. “I would honestly be happy with her just sending in a grainy, black and white video of her just giving us the finger. That would be fine.”
