In Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have a wedding scene. In it, the two get married by an actual Romanian priest. And because they used a real priest for the scene, Ryder is almost certain that she and Keanu are married in real life.

To make matters even cuter, they tied the knot on Valentine’s Day!

Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have been best friends for at least 30 years

Reeves and Ryder go way back.

Their friendship began in 1989 after the two presented at the Independent Spirit Awards. According to Ryder, she developed a “raging crush” on Reeves, which is still very much present. Meanwhile, Reeves insists that he has a “raging crush” on the Heathers star as well.

In fact, Ryder had such a crush on the actor that she asked Francis Ford Coppola to cast Reeves as her romantic partner in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. According to the Stranger Things star, she looked forward to seeing Reeves every single day on set.

“I have these journals, and I just pulled one out recently, and it was from around the time of Dracula,” she told Vanity Fair. “The text: ‘angst, angst, angst, angst, thank God for Keanu. Thank God I’m going to see Keanu.'”

“I was always just so happy when you were around because there was so much, sort of, trauma,” Ryder tells Reeves.

(The trauma she is referring to is due to how challenging it was to act in the gothic-horror movie.)

But there was one plus side to filming. Not only did Ryder and Reeves become closer than ever on set, but they also “got married.”

Ryder is insistent that she and Reeves really tied the knot while filming. She remembers the moment so vividly that she even knows the exact date when it happened… on Valentine’s Day!

“We actually got married in Dracula,” she reminds Reeves in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “No, I swear to God, I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Ford Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master, and he did the whole thing. So I think we’re married.”

“We said yes?” asks Reeves.

“Don’t you remember that?” says Ryder. “It was on Valentine’s Day.”

“…Oh my gosh, we’re married,” Reeves responds.

It turns out Ryder isn’t the only one who is under the impression that Keanu Reeves is her husband. According to the director of the film, he also thinks they might be spouses in real life.

“This is pretty authentic, and I think very beautiful because we actually did the ceremony and had the priest do the ceremony,” said Coppola. “So in a sense, when we were all done, we realized that Keanu and Winona really are married as a result of this scene and this ceremony.”

It doesn’t get much sweeter than that!
