Keanu Reeves Has Bored Netflix Fans Watching 1 of His Worst Movies Ever
Streaming services have given new life to a lot of fan favorites. Shows like Arrested Development, which didn’t make the cut for network television, was revived thanks to Netflix. Fans’ love of the show made it suddenly profitable for the streaming giant to revive, even if the network didn’t see a future for it.
Other shows and movies have become popular thanks to binge-watching, and now one of Keanu Reeves’s old movies may be getting a second life, too. Although this movie flopped when it was first released, it has become one of the most-watched movies on Netflix.
‘Knock Knock’ stars Keanu Reeves, Lorenza Izzo, and Ana de Armas
Although Knock Knock wasn’t exactly a hit when it first came out, it’s getting a second chance on Netflix. The movie came out in 2015.
In this thriller, Reeves plays a successful architect and father. His family goes away without him for Father’s Day weekend, and he stays home to finish a project. His wife, a successful sculptor, informs him that her assistant will be stopping by to pick up her latest work for the gallery.
Reeves’s character, whose name is Evan, hears a knock on the door. Two young women, played by Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas, are looking for a party that is supposed to be at Evan’s address.
Evan tells them that they’re at the wrong house. Somehow they end up staying, despite Evan trying to find them a cab and even offering them a ride himself. The women insist on having a threesome with Evan.
In the morning, the girls have made themselves at home and won’t leave. When Evan insists that they go, the girls claim that they are underage, and threaten legal action if Evan calls the cops on them. They have also vandalized Evan’s wife’s statue.
Eventually Evan convinces the girls to go, and he drives them to where they supposedly live. But he’s not home for long when the girls come back. They break into his house, tie him up, and coerce him into having sex with them. Unbeknownst to Evan, they record this encounter.
When his wife’s assistant arrives, he’s killed in a struggle with the girls. Although they consider killing Evan and even dig a grave for him, the girls ultimately let him live. But they do upload the video of his infidelity to his Facebook page before he leaves. Evan’s wife and family come home to a ruined house and a wrecked home.
‘Knock Knock’ is hovering around #2 on Netflix
Netflix now lets fans know how popular the movies on their platform are. Movies and shows are ranked by how popular they are, with #1 being the most watched material on the platform.
Being at the number 2 spot is a big deal. It not only means that a lot of people are watching the movie, but it also means that more people will see it.
The top 10 movies and shows are featured more prominently on the site than other content, and some fans may scroll through the list looking for things to watch. By getting on the list at all, Knock Knock will have even more viewers on the platform.
Keanu Reeves’ ‘Knock Knock’ didn’t do well at the box office
It could be that fans are excited for Knock Knock because they haven’t seen it before. Despite starring Reeves, Knock Knock didn’t do great when it was first released, so it’s brand new for a lot of fans. It made just over $18,000 on opening, which is pretty sad for a Reeves film.
It grossed just over $6 million worldwide. Most of it’s earnings came from the international market. In the US, the movie grossed far less than $1 million. The domestic profit for the film was somewhere around $36,000. The film had a low budget, of around $2 million, so it wasn’t a total loss. But if Netflix keeps it around, it could make up for it’s poor showing in theaters.
