Kel Mitchell’s 2022 Single Puts Fans in ‘Blessed Mode’ [Exclusive]
Nickelodeon celebrity Kel Mitchell wants his fans to stay in “Blessed Mode” in 2022. Now they can with Mitchell’s devotional book and accompanying song. Showbiz Cheat Sheet caught up with the Deliciousness star to talk about his book Blessed Mode: 90 Days to Level Up Your Faith, the single “Blessed Mode,” and his upcoming children’s story Prank Day.

Mitchell’s book Blessed Mode: 90 Days to Level Up Your Faith came out in December 2021. “No matter what you’re going through, one thing is certain: God is ready to bless you,” reads the book’s description.
As a pastor, actor, and comedian, Mitchell’s book gives readers a 90-day challenge to “receive God’s blessings and become a blessing to others.” When we spoke to Mitchell via Zoom in May 2022, he said: “The book works on your spiritual health, mental health, and physical health. [The book also has] parts … where I talk about songs that help me with my workouts and motivate me in my prayer time.”
After the book came out, the former Kenan & Kel star thought an accompanying song made sense. “I was like, you know what? I need to do a song,” he told us. Mitchell connected with a producer friend and went into the studio to create “Blessed Mode,” which he calls a “gym anthem.”

Mitchell’s Blessed Mode is meant to be as interactive as possible. “I talk about a lot of things that are current right now to help people break through emotional walls and know that they’re beautifully and wonderfully made by God,” he shared with us. “I want them to stay in blessed mode and music plays a part in that.”
It’s been some time since Mitchell has put music out. He admits he was nervous initially releasing new music. “When you put out that first song — as an artist you’re like, ‘Uh oh, I haven’t done music in a while,'” he tells Showbiz.
However, Mitchell has heard nothing but good things about the single. “People were very excited about it,” he adds. “When I started to hear everybody loving it, they were super excited by it [and want me] to do more.”
As Mitchell explains, he’s choosing specific chapters from Blessed Mode and writing songs to accompany them. He estimates he’ll write 10 new songs, but he couldn’t tell us when those singles will be released.
Kel Mitchell’s book ‘Prank Day’ is also coming in 2022
On top of music inspired by Blessed Mode, Mitchell is working on a children’s book called Prank Day. His love of ’80s movies like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Back to the Future inspired the tale.
“It’s a race against time and you have to follow [the characters] to see ‘Are they going to get to it?'” he says of the story. Mitchell adds:
“What’s cool about Prank Day is it’s a story about a kid that loves April Fools Day … Everything he joked about on April Fool’s Day comes to life on April 2 and he has to figure out how all this stuff is happening.
Why is the refrigerator running down the street? He finds himself … trying to figure it all out and learns that just being yourself is a beautiful thing.”
According to Amazon, Prank Day is expected on Sept. 6, 2022.
