Kelly Clarkson Outed Usher for Bringing His Own Trailer to ‘The Voice’
The Kelly Clarkson Show kicked off the second season with Music Week, which encompassed a five-day on-air marathon of A-list musical guests. To the delight of fans, R&B superstar Usher joined the show. While there, he chatted with Clarkson about crossing paths on The Voice.
Usher will appear on ‘The Voice’ as a mentor
Kelly Clarkson welcomed Usher to The Kelly Clarkson Show for a socially distanced interview on her mega-sized sofa. Live in front of a virtual studio audience, Clarkson dove right in asking the star about his experience as a mentor on The Voice.
Clarkson asked, “Did you have fun at The Voice?” Without hesitation, Usher smiled, “I had a great time at The Voice.” The talk show maven agreed that the reality singing competition series is indeed a good experience.
Kelly Clarkson grilled Usher about his private trailer, which is as cool as it sounds
Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani will be perched in the red coaches’ chairs during The Voice Season 19. Since Clarkson is a coach on the show, she and Usher had seen each other around the production set when he popped by to mentor various acts.
Typically, in show business, when guest stars visit production sets, the crew sets them up in sweet digs outfitted with comforts and amenities. But in a real-world twist, the talk show host recalled hearing on-set chatter that Usher actually brought his own trailer.
Clarkson asked the artist, “Was it for COVID?”
Usher came clean, saying, “I figured, you know, with COVID rules, it’d be better to just kind of bring your own, you know what I’m saying?” He continued, “Normally you’d like bring your own lunch. I, like, brought my own idea of a trailer.”
Clarkson shared an image of Usher’s pop-up trailer that he brought to The Voice and asked, “So, do you bring your trailer everywhere, or is it just; we were special?”
The star admitted that lately, it is a standard operating procedure. Usher mused, “I think I made it a home away from home everywhere I go. I’ve been able to kind of drive that thing up north in California and go to Yosemite Park, and you know, just enjoy this moment, make the most of these moments.”
“It was super comfortable, by the way,” Usher added. We would expect no less.
The entertainers bantered amusingly about another COVID-19 consequence
Aside from Usher’s new habit of carting around a trailer for guest appearances on shows like The Voice, he talked with Clarkson about the joy of homeschooling.
Clarkson asked, “So, are you happy that homeschooling is over in your house?”
“Oh man, yes, I am,” Usher answered without missing a beat. In between chuckles, Clarkson admitted that she once believed that her nanny would surely quit during the pandemic.
“God bless the teachers,” Usher declared earnestly. And Clarkson chimed in, saying, “Teachers are the best. They’re so under appreciated. I’m with you on that.”
