Kelly Price Gives Fans Update After Near-Fatal COVID-19 Battle
Kelly Price is providing fans a positive update as she recovers from coronavirus. The singer scared fans and some loved ones when she was reported as a missing person amid her health battle. Now, Price says she’s on the mend.
Kelly Price denies family’s reports that she was missing while battling COVID-19
Price notified fans in July that she was at home resting after having been diagnosed with COVID-19. Within a week, her condition worsened and she was transported to a hospital for medical care.
Fans later learned that Price was in the intensive care unit and that she flatlined twice, which she revealed to TMZ. Prior to coming forward with the seriousness of her condition, Price’s sister spoke with Larry Reid Live asking the public for its help in locating the singer. She said she hadn’t spoken to Kelly in nearly two months, which was unlikely. She also accused Price’s husband of keeping her sister away from their family and reported her missing to a national database.
Price told the media outlet her sister was lying. According to Price, her family knew that she was released from the hospital and under the care of a home nursing staff. She said her exact location was not revealed because fans were seemingly showing up at her home. Price wanted to rest in peace and admits to not answering calls or texts.
The singer says she’s currently following doctor’s orders
In a recent update posted to her Instagram account, Price let fans know that she’s on the mend. She shared a meme about a woman on a journey of healing to a better version of herself and captioned the photo with similar sentiments. Price’s caption reads in part:
Sis is following dr’s [sic] orders. Sis is getting stronger every day. Sis is working hard to get back to the music. Sis is focused. Sis is eliminating stress from everywhere and everyone who presents it no matter who they are. Sis is working hard to be better than I was before COVID, before the pandemic, before the deaths and the losses, before the heartbreaks and the pain. Sis will be better than she was before the craziness.
She also notes that she “thank[s] God for another chance at life,” adding that she is “writing the next chapter.” Price previously told TMZ that her road to recovery is expected to be lengthy due to all of the complications she experienced. However, she’s looking forward to the day she returns to the stage.
Kelly Price previously revealed she’s been estranged from her sister
In spite of her sister speaking out to the media, Price says she has been estranged from her sister in over a year. Per the “Friend of Mine” singer, it’s common behavior for her and her sister to go months without speaking. Therefore, her sister painting a narrative that she was worried about not hearing from her is false.
Furthermore, Price insists multiple people were aware of her circumstances. She says her adult children were notified and in touch with her throughout her recovery process. Price credits her husband with being her biggest supporter throughout this ordeal.
