Kelly Ripa Celebrated Her 25th Wedding Anniversary in a Unique Way
Kelly Ripa has been married to actor Mark Consuelos for 25 years. Long-lasting relationships can be rare in Hollywood, so Ripa and Consuelos have reached a very special milestone for folks in their industry. To celebrate their successful marriage, Ripa recently did something unique.
How did Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos first meet?
Ripa and Consuelos met in the 1990s when they both worked on the soap opera All My Children. Ripa had been a regular on the series for a few years when Consuelos was recruited to join the cast in 1995.
According to Ripa, she fell in love with Consuelos when the casting crew let her see his picture. She said in a SiriusXM interview, “When I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before — like I saw it. And I don’t believe in any of that and now I do because of that moment.”
Meanwhile, Consuelos also had a good impression of Ripa when the two met for the first time. However, he felt she was out of his league.
“I thought she was adorable, hot and sexy and all that stuff, but I was very focused,” he told Huffpost. “I didn’t really think I had a chance with her, so I wasn’t really focused on that.”
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos got married quickly
It didn’t take long before Ripa and Consuelos began dating. In 1996—after less than a year of dating—the couple eloped in Las Vegas.
As reported by Us Weekly, Ripa shared on Live With Kelly and Michael in 2016 that her “wedding dress” was a $199 gown from Barney’s Warehouse that she bought a few years earlier. She said, “I didn’t buy it as a wedding dress. I just bought it because it was really pretty, and I wanted to buy something from the Barneys Warehouse sale.”
After their quick wedding, Ripa and Consuelos went on to start a family. They welcomed three kids together: Michael (born 1997), Lola (born 2001), and Joaquin (born 2003).
Ripa and Consuelos are proof that showbiz marriages can work. Over the years, they have also shared their tips and tricks for keeping relationships alive. For example, communication is key in their marriage. The couple also tries to make time to see each other despite their busy schedules.

For the occasion, Ripa decided to get a tattoo. She shared on Instagram recently that the tattoo is the date of their wedding—“5.1.1996”—and located on her arm.
Meanwhile, according to Page Six, Consuelos celebrated their marital bliss by gifting Ripa a photo album. Ripa shared some photos of album, including a message Consuelos wrote in one of the pages.
“Happy 25th Anniversary,” he said. “If I were to write a book of our story, these are the 25 places that could have their own chapter. All of these places mean so much to me – and hopefully to you too. Love, Mark.”
