Kelly Ripa is Ready to Get Naked
Kelly Ripa is one of daytime television’s most recognizable stars. The 49-year-old has been the co-host on one of televisions longest-running morning shows since 2001. Back then the former soap opera actress joined Regis Philbin on Live! With Regis and Kelly. Since then she has shared co-hosting duties with former NFL pro, Michael Strahan and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.
Over the years, the show has seen plenty of men and women step in to play guest host when one of the hosts is away. While some stars appear more frequently than others, no co-host is more popular than Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos. Ripa recently sat with PEOPLE Now to discuss the couple’s plans for their future— and their upcoming empty-nest phase involves a whole lot of nakedness.
How long have Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos been married?
When it comes to celebrity marriages, Ripa and Consuelos are the gold standard. The former All My Children stars are about to celebrate their 24th wedding anniversary. The couple met while co-starring on the popular soap opera and quickly hit it off. A year later, the couple eloped to Las Vegas.
Ripa and Consuelos have since added three children to their family. Michael is 22, Lola is 18, and the youngest, Joaquin, is 16. It’s clear the couple is madly in love and have a happy family. During her recent interview, Ripa said what makes her marriage work is friendship. She told PEOPLE, “We encourage each other,” she continued, “I hate when people say this—because it sounds so dumb—but we are best friends, and we love each other and we like each other, and we’ve got these beautiful, amazing kids and we feel very fortunate to have found, in this great big world with all these people, we’re just two kids. He’s from Italy, I’m from South Jersey, what are the chances we would find each other?”
The couple is looking forward to becoming empty-nesters
As much as Ripa and Consuelos love their children, there comes a point in every couple’s marriage where you start to think about having more alone time. In just a few years, the couple will officially be empty-nesters. Their oldest son, Michael, is already out of the house and Lola is a freshman at NYU. That means as soon as Joaquin graduates, the pair will have the house to themselves.
So what do they plan to do during this next stage in life? When asked, the talk show host joked, “We’re going to be totally naked. All the time.” How do they prevent the kids from stopping by for a surprise visit? Ripa says, “We are going to change all the locks.” Speaking of locks…

The mother of three doesn’t hold anything back when she talks about her family on her morning talk show. Recently, Ripa told her audience just what happens when the couple forgets to lock the door.
In her story, Ripa says her and her husband were spending some “alone time,” together in the bedroom before Father’s Day breakfast. Being that it was Father’s Day, the couple had family waiting for them downstairs. Well, as it turns out, Ripa and Consuelos weren’t exactly careful during their early morning rendezvous. The couple’s daughter walked into their bedroom— let’s just say, it made for an uncomfortable breakfast. Oh, and this Father’s Day just happened to fall on Lola’s 18th birthday. It’s safe to say she got one birthday surprise she’ll never forget. Needless to say, it’s probably a good idea that the couple changes the locks when all the kids are out of the house.
