Kevin Costner Is Not the Only ‘Yellowstone’ Star Who Has Lived on a Real-Life Ranch
Kevin Costner plays rancher John Dutton on Yellowstone — the owner of the largest ranch in the United States. But what fans might not know is that Costner is the owner of a ranch in real life. The Oscar winner currently lives on the property with his wife, Christine Baumgartner, and their children. But he’s not the only Yellowstone star who has lived on a real-life ranch.
Kevin Costner’s Colorado ranch has some unique features
When he’s not on the set of Yellowstone in Montana — or working on other projects — Costner lives on his 160-acre Colorado property known as the Dunbar Ranch. Located just ten minutes from downtown Aspen, Costner’s ranch features three standalone homes — the main house, a lake house, and a river house.
There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, including a private ice rink, a tubing track, and dog sledding. Just down the road, there’s world-class skiing at the Aspen Snowmass. During the summer months, outdoor activities on the Dunbar Ranch include horseback riding, hiking, and fishing.
The Hollywood A-lister has also incorporated activities related to his film roles. Like archery from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and a personal baseball field in homage to Field of Dreams. On the private lake, there are kayaks and paddleboards for water-based fun.
‘Yellowstone’ star Cole Hauser has also lived on a ranch
Costner’s Dunbar Ranch — which is named after his Dances with Wolves character, John Dunbar — is impressive. But he’s not the only Yellowstone star who has lived on a real-life ranch.
His co-star Cole Hauser, who plays Dutton Ranch foreman Rip Wheeler, was actually born on a ranch outside of Santa Barbara, California. And currently, Hauser owns a Horse Ranch in Agoura Hills. However, according to Realtor.com, the actor put the property on the market for $4.25 million in 2020.
Hauser bought the property in 2010 for $2.33 million, and it’s been his primary residence ever since. When he’s not working in Montana on Yellowstone, Hauser lives at his ranch with his wife, Cynthia Daniel, and their three children — son Ryland, son Colt, and daughter Steely Rose.
‘Yellowstone’ fans can rent Kevin Costner’s Dunbar Ranch
As for Costner’s Dunbar Ranch, the actor and his family live on the property for just a few months out of the year. They also have a home in California, and Costner also brings his family to Montana while he’s filming Yellowstone.
When the Costners are away from the ranch, it’s available to rent as a vacation home for $36,000 per night. The massive property will accommodate as many as 35 people across the three homes. And guests can enjoy any of the amenities on the property — even the Field of Dreams baseball field.
Fans who are interested in renting it out can visit dunbarranch.co for more information.
Yellowstone season 5 will premiere this summer on the Paramount Network. Seasons 1 through 4 are now playing on Peacock.
