Kevin Costner ‘Put On’ His ‘Charm’ for Sharon Stone at 2024 Governors Awards, Witness Reveals
Kevin Costner hasn’t had an easy few years. After leaving Yellowstone, his passion project, Horizon: The American Saga, flopped at the box office. Additionally, his wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner, blindsided him with a divorce. In the wake of the news, Costner found an unlikely ally in Sharon Stone, as she publicly defended him amidst divorce proceedings. Here’s what a source noticed regarding Costner and Stone’s flirtatious exchange at the 2024 Governors Awards.
Kevin Costner tried to ‘charm’ Sharon Stone at the Governors Awards, a source says
Kevin Costner attended the 2024 Governors Awards with other Hollywood elite. While there, he reacted to the fan backlash surrounding the death of his Yellowstone character, John Dutton III. In June 2024, Costner confirmed that he would not return to the show for the second half of season 5. He reportedly couldn’t successfully negotiate with the showrunners and hoped to focus on other projects, like Horizon.
In addition to Costner’s difficulties with Yellowstone in 2024, he finalized his divorce from his ex-wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner. This leaves Costner single and moving forward from the difficult blow to his personal life. A source told DailyMail.com that Costner and Sharon Stone appeared to have a flirty moment at the Governors Awards on Nov. 17, 2024.
“They started off polite with small talk; then he put on his Kevin Costner charm, you know, like the vibes he gave off in Bull Durham and Tin Cup, like, ‘Heyyyy, baby,'” a witness told the publication. “Who knows if they went home together or even exchanged numbers, but it certainly looks like they liked each other a lot. Sharon is such a class act; she handled the attention very well and was cute. She winked at him and was sweet.”
Sharon Stone defended Kevin Costner regarding his divorce
Kevin Costner discussed the impact of his divorce on CBS Mornings in June 2024. “That’s a crushing moment,” he told Gayle King. “It’s powerful. It hurt, but I go forward.” He added that he can’t “wilt like a daisy,” as he and Christine Baumgartner must put their three kids first. “I have to go forward,” he continued. “I have to continue to be who I am and keep a special eye on who [my children] are.”
Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023 and requested $160,000 in child support monthly. She initially requested over $170,000 monthly in child support, noting that she and the kids had become accustomed to an A-list lifestyle. “It’s so much more than this — it’s an experience,” Baumgartner said. “We’ve created quite a community.”
Sharon Stone showed public support for Costner after the news broke. “My ex thought the same,” Stone commented on Instagram with a crying-laughing emoji regarding Baumgartner’s request, according to Hello! Magazine.
Sharon Stone is open to finding love again
Kevin Costner and Sharon Stone might’ve hinted at a possible romance at the 2024 Governors Awards. In January 2024, Stone told The Times that she wanted 2024 to be her year of falling in love again.
“This is the year that I want to fall in love — 100%,” she said.
Stone has been married and divorced twice. In 2020, she denounced love, but she’s now ready to return to the dating scene.
“I’d be absolutely ecstatic to have a relationship … it’s just that I spend so much of my time painting, the guy’s probably gonna [have to] pop out of the woodwork,” she continued. “But that may very well happen.”
As for what she wants in a partner, she said she doesn’t look for anything in particular. “I’ve never looked for anything. Because I don’t think that’s what happens,” Stone said. “You’re standing somewhere, someone walks up and starts talking to you, and you turn around and think, ‘What?’ And the next thing you know, two years have gone by. You don’t look for a list and then your list arrives.”
