The MCU is currently in Phase 4

Phase 4 began in 2021 with WandaVision on the small screen and Black Widow on the big screen. And since then, the Disney+ series and feature films have mainly revolved around individual stories and introducing new characters to the MCU. So, it’s difficult to tell what might be in store for Phase 5 of the MCU.

The released films of Phase 4 include Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And fans still have Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, and Fantastic Four to look forward to.

Meanwhile, the released Disney+ series of Phase 4 comprise of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel, which is in the middle of airing. And the upcoming shows are I Am Groot, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, an untitled Halloween special, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Secret Invasion, and Ironheart.

Armor Wars and an untitled Wakanda series are also in development, but it’s unclear if they will release during Phase 4 or Phase 5 of the MCU.

Kevin Feige reveals new information about MCU: Phase 5

While speaking with Total Film, Kevin Feige lightly teased what’s to come in the last few installments of Phase 4 and how Marvel is setting up for Phase 5 of the MCU.

“As we’re nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going,” the president explained. “I think there have been many clues already that are at least apparent to me of where this whole saga is going. But we’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.”

According to Feige, some of the films and shows of MCU: Phase 4 have already begun setting up Phase 5. However, Marvel’s upcoming projects will start to more obviously tease the next chapter and clue in fans on what’s coming next.

Fans believe the next chapter will revolve around Secret Wars

The MCU’s first three phases led to Thanos and the Infinity War. However, it’s less clear what Marvel’s game plan is following Avengers: Endgame. There have been rumors and speculations among the fandom about what’s to come in Phase 5 of the MCU. And now, thanks to Kevin Feige’s comments, fans are confident that Phase 4 is building up to Secret Wars.

Many began to suspect that an adaption of the comic book crossover series was coming following the Loki Season 1 finale. He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conqueror, revealed to Loki and Sylvie that he had put an end to a multiversal war. However, Sylvie killed him, unleashing many timelines and threatening the state of the multiverse.

Of course, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness could also serve as setup for Secret Wars. And knowing that Fantastic Four is in development, many are sure that we have left the Infinity Saga of the MCU behind, and Phase 4 and 5 are the beginning of the Secret Wars Saga.
