Khloé Kardashian Reveals Where She Stands With Ex-Husband Lamar Odom Today
Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom were once considered one of reality television’s most beloved couples. During their relationship, it was clear that the two were really in love and saw a bright future together. Unfortunately, their marriage broke down, resulting in the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star filing for divorce from the retired NBA player.
Since their split, Kardashian hasn’t had much to say about her marriage and divorce from Odom. But, during the KUWTK reunion special, she opened up about their relationship, sharing how she really feels about her ex-husband and where they stand with each other post-breakup.
Khloé Kardashian says she no longer talks to Lamar Odom
During part 2 of the KUWTK reunion special, which aired on June 20, Kardashian took the hot seat to discuss her past romantic relationships. She first opened up about her marriage and divorce from Odom.
Though they were once inseparable, Kardashian revealed that she and Odom are no longer on speaking terms. However, she noted that she and the family still support and hope the best for him.
“We’re not in touch, but I honestly wish him nothing but the best and good health,” the mother of one said. “I think we’re all really rooting for him and just want the best for him.”
Odom and Kardashian first met in 2009 after he noticed her at a party hosted by fellow NBA star Ron Artest. Odom said he initially saw her “huge” eyes, as they reminded him of his mother’s. Although Odom thought they would hook up that night, he and Kardashian ended up talking the entire time. The following day, the couple had their first date and their relationship quickly blossomed.
In September 2009 — after only a month of dating — Kardashian and Odom tied the knot. The pair were married for four years until the Good American founder filed for divorce from the athlete in December 2013. However, their split wasn’t finalized until three years later, following Odom’s near-fatal overdose in a Nevada brothel.
Khloé Kardashian ‘wouldn’t change’ her marriage to Lamar Odom
Although Odom’s infidelity and drug use played a big part in their breakup, Kardashian doesn’t have any ill feelings toward the athlete.
Despite their marriage coming to a tumultuous end, Kardashian continues to cherish the time she spent with her ex-husband, sharing during the reunion that she wouldn’t undo her marriage to Odom.
“I loved that chapter in my life,” Kardashian shared. “Regardless of how dark and crazy that might sound, it was still just a very significant part of my life and my story, and I wouldn’t change it. It sounds crazy, but it was meant to happen and it happened.”
Meanwhile, Odom still holds Kardashian and her family close to his heart. In March 2021, he posted an Instagram video of himself rewatching E!’s Khloé & Lamar. Although he hasn’t spoken to them directly in years, he said he would always be “grateful” to the Kardashians.
“My show with my ex-wife,” he captioned the video. “I want to thank @krisjenner @khloekardashian @kimkardashian @robkardashianofficial @kourtneykardash for taking me in and loving me without judgment – y’all gave me family, and for that, I am forever grateful.”
Khloé Kardashian says she ‘appreciates’ Lamar Odom
Since their breakup, Odom hasn’t shied away from speaking publicly about Kardashian and their relationship.
Not only has he detailed their marriage ups and downs in his 2019 memoir, Darkness To Light, but the NBA player has also touched upon their romance during interviews and public appearances.
Though she remained mum about his statements in recent years, Kardashian shared that she “really appreciates” Odom’s testimonies as they have given her “closure.”
“Our marriage ended in a way that there was not a lot of closure,” she noted during the reunion. “And so, when you get out of a marriage where you’re not really able to have a discussion with someone, I feel like it’s hard for you to move on. You feel incomplete, you’re always questioning things. So finally, to get that closure, or just that acknowledgement for me…you do get the validation.”
