Khloé Kardashian Tried to Be ‘Relatable’ On Social Media and People Immediately Roasted Her
With people across the globe stuck at home and glued to the internet for glimpses of the outside world amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it’s truly a time for celebrities to shine. Whether they are sharing potentially life-saving techniques like J.K. Rowling or making a stunningly momentous announcement to give comfort to an entire country like Queen Elizabeth II, this has been a time where the famous among us have been beacons of hope and light.
Then there’s Khloé Kardashian.
The celebrity took to social media to try to relate to people during this trying time, but her attempt definitely missed the mark and left fans frustrated with her out-of-touch perspective.
Khloé Kardashian has been raising eyebrows lately
Even before the pandemic, Kardashian’s social media activities had been giving fans serious cause for concern. From her bizarre partnership with Febreze to her insistence on promoting potentially dangerous diet products, she has made some seriously questionable career moves.
More than anything, though, fans have focused on her attempts to carve out a niche for herself within the Kardashian-Jenner family and have determined that she’s lacking. She often comes across as out-of-touch, unsure of just what persona she wants to portray, and disconnected from the realities of real people’s lives.
Khloe Kardashian posted about missing her ‘pre-quarantine’ body
There have been plenty of memes and jokes about the impact of the pandemic on people’s fitness and diet goals. After all, gyms are closed, and many people are finding themselves at home for hours on end with a kitchen to raid and snacks to indulge in easily accessible. Many have even done a play on the old college saying of “the freshman 15” by referring to the quarantined weight gain as “the Covid 19.”
It’s within this context that Kardashian made a post to her Instagram story. In it, she has a picture of herself — presumably from happier days — in a black one-piece bathing suit. She’s on her back with eyes closed and arms stretched above her head. Her back is arched, and the pose shows off her curves and slim waist. She titled it, “God I miss my pre-quarantine body lol.”
Fans are not impressed with Khloé Kardashian’s attempt to connect
While Kardashian may have been trying to be relatable by posting about her experiences with fitness during the lockdown, she definitely missed the mark.
One commenter took to Reddit to vent frustration: “I’m over these celebrities whining about isolation from [their] m[e]ga-mansions with gyms, pools, [etc.] Not to mention probably month’s worth of meals. What’s stopping [K]hloe from getting on a treadmill[?]”
Another shared a similar sentiment while pointing to Kardashian’s own recent home improvements: “Wasn’t the recent remodel of her house largely focused on creating an even more extensive and luxurious home gym?”
Yet another went even further with anger at the hypocrisy of celebrities not recognizing their own privilege during this time: “This is so annoying. Celebrities need to have self-awareness during this time. They live in huge mansions and can get any type of food catered to them. They can go outside because they have massive backyards with pools etc. They need to shut the hell up seriously.”
Kardashian may have been trying to relate to others who are struggling, but she ultimately ended up driving a wedge even further between herself and her fans. Her inability to recognize her own privilege and the opportunities she has that most fans don’t has long been a point of criticism, but the pandemic crisis has made the difference even more apparent. She would be better off avoiding the topic altogether.
