If you’ve been watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians since the beginning, chances are, you’ve seen the episode centered around Khloé Kardashian’s arrest. Though the entire ordeal seemed to be happening in real-time, fans have called out the arrest for being one of the fakest moments in KUWTK history.

So, did Kardashian’s run-in with the law actually happen on the show, or was it just a scripted moment the cast created to make the drama seem more real than ever? Here’s everything we know.

Khloé Kardashian’s arrest

When KUWTK premiered back in 2007, one of the very first episodes that aired was the one centered around Khloé Kardashian’s arrest.

For those of you who don’t remember, the Good American founder was pulled over in the wee hours of the morning for driving under the influence after leaving a nightclub.

Before her arrest, Kardashian was struggling with the anniversary of her father, Robert Kardashian’s death, which led her to have a drunken night out on the town. Even Hulu’s description of the episode states, “Khloé has trouble coping with the anniversary of her father’s death.”

But despite camera crews filming Kardashian getting pulled over and handcuffed, some felt that the whole situation was fabricated as all the events that happened didn’t align with each other.

Did the arrest really happen?

Though Kardashian was apprehended for driving under the influence, her arrest actually didn’t happen on KUWTK. Instead, it took place in March 2007, a few months before the show even began filming.

To add to the staged feel, Kardashian also fabricated a dramatic reason for driving under the influence. In the show, the reality star claimed to be struggling with the anniversary of her father, Robert Kardashian Sr. ‘s death, which led her to have a drunken night out.

However, The Cut notes that the anniversary of Kardashian Sr. ‘s death actually happened in September 2007, months after her real arrest, which means KUWTK staged the entire ordeal.

Khloé Kardashian’s jail time wasn’t staged

Though Kardashian’s arrest was a reenactment, her going to jail a year later for violating her probation wasn’t.

While the Revenge Body host was initially slapped with community service and ordered to complete an alcohol-education class as punishment for her DUI, she missed several sessions due to her busy schedule. Unfortunately for her, the judge wasn’t sympathetic.

Kardashian was sentenced to serve up to 30 days in jail and enroll in an alcohol treatment program for violating her probation. But luckily for Koko, she only did three hours behind bars before she was released due to overcrowding.

The entire situation was well documented on KUWTK. Today, it’s considered one of the most iconic episodes in KUWTK history, mainly because it included the infamous Kim Kardashian West taking selfies in a car while accompanying Khloé to jail scene.
