‘Kid90’ Features Rare Footage of Celebs Like Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg
Growing up as a child actor in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, Soleil Moon Frye often documented her life experiences with a home video camera. And she’s now sharing some of those intimate moments in Kid90.
The Hulu documentary features rare footage of Hollywood celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg. Here’s a breakdown of some of the famous faces you’ll find in Kid90.
Soleil Moon Frye shares her childhood experiences in ‘Kid90’
Frye started out as a child actor and is most known for her role on the NBC sitcom, Punky Brewster. In Kid90, the actor/director revisits her childhood through old videos, photographs, and audiotapes. She reveals how she was objectified as a young teen because of her body, details her friendships and romances, and remembers the close friends she’s lost to drugs and suicide.
Frye recently appeared in the Punky Brewster revival series on Peacock. Kid90 is her third directorial project.
Brian Austin Green is still one of Soleil Moon Frye’s closest friends
As a child actor, Brian Austin Green was good friends with Frye, and remains so until this day. Kid90 features old footage of the actor, who appeared on shows like Small Wonder and Knots Landing early in his career, and went on to play David Silver in Beverly Hills, 90210. In the documentary, Green discusses the pressures of being a child star and opens up about his lasting friendship with Frye.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar shares his experiences in ‘Kid90’
Mark-Paul Gosselaar is known for playing Zack Morris in the Saved By the Bell franchise — a role he reprised for Peacock’s new reboot. He has also appeared in projects like Franklin and Bash, The Passage, and Mixed-Ish. In Kid90, Gosselaar talks about growing up in front of the camera and suggests he wouldn’t want that life for his own kids.
Stephen Dorff went to summer camp with Soleil Moon Frye
Like Frye, Stephen Dorff also started his career young. He was featured on episodes of Blossom and Roseanne, and appeared in films like Blade and Immortals. More recently, the actor was seen in the third season of HBO’s hit drama, True Detective, opposite Mahershala Ali.
In Kid90, Dorff describes the moment he met Frye after an audition for Punky Brewster, and talks about their friendship. The two also discuss the sudden loss of his brother, musician Andrew Dorff.
David Arquette, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg and several other celebrities are featured in ‘Kid90’
Kid90 features footage and interviews of Frye’s good friends Balthazar Getty and David Arquette. The documentary also includes photos and video clips of several other Hollywood celebrities including Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlie Sheen, Jenny Lewis, Sara Gilbert, Jonathan Landis, Candice Cameron-Bure, Michael Rapaport and Breckin Meyer.
Mark Wahlberg is seen in Frye’s old photos. And in an audio clip, he is heard leaving a message for Frye.
With Frye’s personal footage, Kid90 offers a rare look at the lives of ‘90s Hollywood kids. The documentary is currently streaming on Hulu.
