Killing Eve was a huge contender during the 2019 Emmy Awards, and although it only won in one category, the attention helped put the series in the spotlight. Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh star in the show as the dynamic duo with a love-hate murderous relationship that has viewers hooked.

Season two’s finale left everyone staring at their screens with its intense cliffhanger, and season three was already guaranteed. While the premiere of the newest installment is still months away and due to hit in spring 2020, there’s other good news about Killing Eve that will make fans happy.

‘Killing Eve’ already granted a fourth season

Villanelle will live to kill another day thanks to news from BBC America that the series has already been renewed for season four. The network shared a formal announcement on Jan. 3, celebrating the move before the arrival of season three.

AMC Networks, which airs the series under the BBC America umbrella, shared a statement from its president, Sarah Barnett:

“How could we not have massive confidence in Killing Eve? It has won big in every major award show and is the highest growing show on U.S. television for six years.

The reason for this series’ emphatic embrace is the brilliant women who breathed it into being: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emerald Fennell, Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw and its fairy godmother, executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle. Season 3 lead writer Suzanne Heathcote takes Eve, Villanelle and Carolyn to places more thrilling, twisted and surprising than ever. Our addicted fans will not be disappointed.”

As mentioned, the show is sticking to the Killing Eve tradition of rotating its head writer for the new season, with Heathcote at the helm this time.

Season three will have a slew of new faces

It’s a good thing that fans learn about the renewal now, as it provides hope about storylines and who may have a chance at surviving the villains’ wrath in the show—a wrath that could belong to Villanelle or someone else. Additionally, the cast has been expanded for season three, with at least seven fresh characters joining in on the fun.

BBC America notes that the new season will feature appearances from the following:

“Danny Sapani, Dame Harriet Walter, Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones), Pedja Bjelac (Harry Potter), Camille Cottin (Call My Agent), Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9), Raj Bajaj (A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding), Turlough Convery (Ready Player One), and Evgenia Dodina.”

Sandra Oh confirmed rumor about her character

Several months ago, Oh was unknowingly photographed on set while filming season three of Killing Eve. This led fans to believe she survived being shot by Villanelle, and Oh confirmed the theory during an October interview with Net-A-Porter magazine.

How did she do it? By showing up for the interview and talking about filming for the show. It was a simple statement:

“This happens to be a break for me. They are shooting [another storyline] elsewhere. I won’t tell you where; it’s fantastic! I can’t believe I can’t go.”

A short video accompanied the chat where Oh cracked a joke about the biggest season three spoiler is her doing the interview. Eve will be back in some form come spring 2020.
