‘Killing Eve’ Season 4 Release Date, Where to Watch, How Many Episodes
Long before Killing Eve Season 4 was released, fans knew it would be its last. BBC confirmed when it announced production on the fourth season. Now, season 4 is finally here so fans may be wondering when and where to watch it, and for how long. Showbiz Cheat Sheet is here to help.
[Warning: This article contains spoilers for the first three seasons of Killing Eve.]
‘Killing Eve’ Season 4 release date: Feb. 27 on BBC America and AMC+
In the U.S., BBC America will air the Killing Eve Season 4 premiere on Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. The same day, AMC+ will stream the season premiere. New episodes air Sundays at 8 p.m. on BBC America and stream on AMC+.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge created Killing Eve for television from the Luke Jennings Villanelle noveles. She wrote season 1 but wanted each season to have a different female writer. So, Emerald Fennell showran season 2 and Suzanne Heathcote ran season 3. The Killing Eve Season 4 head writer was Laura Neal and she only had to conclude the whole series. No pressure.
“No, it was a huge amount of pressure, but also writing on this show is my dream job,” Neal said on a Television Critics Association Zoom panel. “So when I came in and I started on Season 3, I thought it couldn’t get any better, and then to be asked to take the lead on Season 4 and to be able to be entrusted with the final season, and the final episode even, just felt like an absolute highlight of my career.”
How many episodes are in ‘Killing Eve’ Season 4?
Killing Eve Season 4 will be eight episodes. That’s been standard for every season of Killing Eve and it’s very British. In fact, many British series are only six episodes or even fewer, so eight is a bonus. That’ll be 32 total episodes in the whole series.
“I’ve loved every season of Killing Eve,” Neal said. “I started out just as a massive fan. So I know Killing Eve is really proud of its tradition of handing over to a new lead writer, female lead writer every season, and I was such a big fan of Phoebe, and of Emerald, and of Suzanne’s work, so to be the last in that line of amazing women is just a massive privilege.”
Where season 3 left off
Season 3 delved into Villanelle (Jodie Comer)’s past as she met her family in Russia. That did not end well for her mother, but it informed Villanelle’s behavior throughout the series.
Villanelle’s former handler Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) was involved in Kenny (Sean Delaney)’s death, though it ended up being an accident. Dasha (Harriet Walter) stabbed Eve (Sandra Oh)’s husband with a pitchfork. He survived but ended things with Eve.
When Eve and Villanelle finally met at the end of the season, they confessed their feelings for each other. Villanelle even considered leaving the assassin business. They tried to walk away from each other, but turned back at each other. So, where does that leave them. Killing Eve Season 4 will pick up from there and hopefully give fans the conclusion they want.
