It’s officially over for Kim and Barry Plath. The Welcome to Plathville stars have filed for divorce two years after announcing their separation.

With their split, the Plaths join a long list of other TLC couples whose marriages have fallen apart. From the Plaths to the Browns to the Derricos, here are some TLC couples who’ve gone through a divorce in the public eye.

Kim and Barry Plath of ‘Welcome to Plathville’

In June 2022, Kim and Barry announced they had separated after 24 years of marriage. Two years later, Kim officially filed for divorce, In Touch reported. Kim, who now lives in Florida, is requesting primary custody of their three minor children. (The former couple also has six adult children.)

“After considerable thought and discussion, we have decided to end our marriage,” the Welcome to Plathville cast members said when announcing their split. “While this was not an easy decision, we know it’s the best choice for both of us. We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will coparent our amazing children.”

Olivia and Ethan Plath of ‘Welcome to Plathville’

Kim and Barry aren’t the only Welcome to Plathville couple whose marriage has come to an end. In 2023, their son, Ethan Plath, and his wife Olivia Plath, announced that they were splitting up after five years together. They filed for divorce in February 2024.

“Ethan and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Olivia wrote on Instagram in October 2023.

In his Instagram post, Ethan said that his marriage to Olivia “just didn’t work, though Lord knows we both gave it all we had.”

Karen and Deon Derrico of ‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’

Doubling Down With the Derricos stars Karen and Deon Derrico filed for divorce in June 2024 in Nevada. The split was finalized a few days later. The breakup came as a shock to the show’s fans, as neither Karen nor Deon had indicated there was serious trouble in the marriage.

Karen and Deon will share custody of their 13 minor children. (Their oldest daughter, Darian, is over 18.)

“Together, we remain unified in the parenting of our 14 beautiful children — their well-being is our priority,” Karen and Deon said in a statement to People. “We thank everyone for their understanding and support as we move forward for the good of our family.”

Amy and Matt Roloff of ‘Little People, Big World’

In 2006, TLC’s Little People, Big World introduced viewers to Amy and Matt Roloff and their four kids: Zach, Jeremy, Molly, and Jacob. The cameras were there 10 years later when the couple decided to divorce. The show continued to follow the pair as they navigated life post-split.

Since going their separate ways, both Amy and Matt have moved on with new partners. Amy’s husband Chris Marek and Matt’s fiancé Caryn Chandler both joined the Little People, Big World cast, even as several of the Roloff kids decided to stop filming the show.

Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman of ‘1000-lb Sisters’

In March 2023, Michael Halterman filed for divorce from his wife of six years, 1000-lb Sisters star Amy Slaton. The couple’s messy split played out in the show’s fifth season, which included a tense confrontation between Amy, her husband, and several of Amy’s sisters.

Amy and Michael share two young children. She’s accused her ex of being an uninvolved and unsupportive partner.

“There was no support. There was no love. There was no kindness. There was just mental abuse,” Amy said to People when opening up about why the marriage ended. “I just got tired of hiding it from people.”

In 2022, Chantel and Pedro announced they were splitting up after six years together. Their acrimonious breakup – which included accusations of financial misdeeds, cheating, and abuse – played out in The Family Chantel Season 5, which aired in 2023. Deon Derrico ‘Still Very Much In Love’ With Ex-Wife Karen Derrico Despite Divorce

Jon and Kate Gosselin became reality TV stars with Jon and Kate Plus 8, which premiered in 2007 on Discovery Health before moving to TLC. The show chronicled their life as parents to twins and sextuplets. But the series was controversial, with some people questioning the couple’s decision to feature their family on TV.

Criticism mounted as Jon and Kate’s marriage fell apart, ending in divorce in 2009. The show was later rebranded as Kate Plus 8, which ended in 2017. However, the contentious relationship between Jon, Kate, and several of their children has continued to generate tabloid headlines.
