Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones is noticeably missing from the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That… The actor has spoken in the past about why she’s not on the show, and she recently went on a spree of liking fan comments on social media about her absence from the series. Kim Cattrall has been vocal in the past about how negative her experience filming Sex and the City was. She has stated that the show was a contributing factor in her divorce from her third husband, Mark Levinson, and why she doesn’t have children.
Cattrall also said that the shooting schedule required days sometimes longer than 18 hours, with very little time for recovery in between. Her bad experience with Sex in the City led her to announce that she will no longer be involved in the series after filming the 2010 movie Sex in the City 2.
Another reason Cattrall won’t appear in And Just Like That… is her ongoing feud with former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City and And Just Like That… The two women have vastly different accounts of the events that led to the demise of their friendship.
Finally, And Just Like That… showrunner Michael Patrick King has stated that Kim Cattrall was never a consideration for the reboot of the popular series. He said (via Hollywood Reporter), “And Just Like That… was never four. It never was on the radar as four because Kim Cattrall, for whatever reason, didn’t want to play Samantha anymore while we were doing the movie.”

Recently, Cattrall broke her silence about the Sex in the City reboot by liking several tweets about her absence from the show.
One fan tweet the actor liked said, “Kim Cattrall didn’t return to SATC because her scatting career is finally taking off,” followed by a red heart emoji.
Another fan tweet liked by Cattrall read, “And just like that… I find myself only wanting to watch anything @KimCattrall is in. This is a Kim appreciation tweet.” The tweet also contained a gif of Cattrall smoking with the caption, “I’m a lady who needs a smoke. I’m not a smoker.”
Cattrall also liked a tweet that said, “And just like that…I want to rewatch the 2014 HBO Canada prestige Toronto-set dramedy Sensitive Skin starring Kim Cattrall.”
Based on her Twitter activity, it seems like Cattrall is OK with not being involved in And Just Like That…
The actor was cast in ‘How I Met Your Father’
Fans missing Cattrall can watch the actor in the upcoming series How I Met Your Father, a spinoff of How I Met Your Mother. She will play the older version of the main character, Sophie, portrayed by Hilary Duff.
GLOW’s Christopher Lowell and Drake & Josh’s Josh Peck will also star in the upcoming series, which is currently in post-production. The show is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on Jan. 18, 2022.
