Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have long been viewed as an ideal couple, but that image started to crack over the summer of 2020, when West went public with their marital issues.
Taking to Twitter, he infamously suggested his wife had been unfaithful and claimed he had been seeking a divorce for years before scaling back and, ultimately, apologizing for his words. The Wests seemed to have a happy and healthy relationship from the moment they got together in 2012. But tension reportedly started to grow between them in July, when West revealed personal information about their family at a political event, namely that they considered aborting daughter North, 7.
As his comments swept the media, sources told TMZ and Entertainment Tonight that Kim was “upset” and found it “heartbreaking” that West would reveal such things. But the drama only continued.
The rapper, who reportedly has bipolar disorder, claimed on Twitter that Kim and Kris Jenner had been trying to “lock [him] up with a doctor” (via E! News) and said he’d wanted a divorce since 2018. But he eventually apologized after Kim shared an emotional post on Instagram about his actions.

After the tweet storm, the Wests took some time away from the spotlight to vacation overseas, where the focus was reportedly on their marriage.
“They decided to travel together so they can be away in private,” a source told People. Insiders also noted their four children — North, Saint, 4, Chicago, 2, and Psalm, 1 — joined them.
The family did not address the report, but they appeared to be in good spirits in a video from the getaway. In the clip, West danced with North as Kim laughed in the background.
The family spent the next few days out of town before returning to the United States, with Kim reportedly going back to California with their kids and West heading to his ranch in Wyoming.

“Things have definitely improved between Kim and Kanye,” a source told HollywoodLife in a Nov. 13 report, “and their relationship hits highs and lows like any marriage.”
The insider mentioned that a highlight came on Kim’s 40th birthday on Oct. 21. In honor of her big day, West posted a tribute to his wife on Twitter before surprising her with a hologram of her late father Rob Kardashian Snr. during her birthday party.
“Kanye really stepped up for her birthday,” the insider continued. He “showed [Kim] the Kanye she fell in love with from the start. It was really the push they needed to get back to where they’ve always been. They’re on really good terms right now, and they love each other.”
