Kim Kardashian‘s figure is without a doubt one of the most famous in the world. The reality star (and aspiring lawyer) first started getting noticed for her curves when she was thrust into the spotlight on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Twelve years and four children later, Kardashian is looking better than ever. She regularly posts skin-baring selfies on Instagram which sometimes land her in hot water with her critics. Recently, Kardashian came under fire for her ultra-tiny waist at the Met Gala, with some people claiming that she must have had plastic surgery to get such a small waistline. Kardashian addressed the claims on social media and spoke out about just how and why her waist got so small.

While Khloe Kardashian is known as the Kardashian sister with an addiction to the gym, her older sister Kim Kardashian is no slouch when it comes to working out. Kardashian trains with Melissa Alcantara, a bodybuilder and fitness instructor who first gained her following on Instagram. Alcantara whipped Kardashian into fighting form following the births of her children, and Kardashian has definitely never looked back.

According to Alcantara, she goes to Kardashian’s house six days a week for workout sessions. Alcantara has the highest praise for Kardashian’s dedication and drive, saying that while she both “loves and hates” leg days, she’s still determined to put in the necessary work to get results. Still, exercise can only do so much, and without following a healthy eating plan, it’s pretty difficult to see results as drastic as Kardashian’s. 

Kim Kardashian credits her vegan diet for her fit figure

In the past, Kardashian has followed several different diet plans. For a time, she was a big proponent of the Atkins diet and stuck to mostly lean proteins like hummus, Greek yogurt, and lots of veggies. Recently, she has changed up her eating habits yet again and recently revealed that she is following a vegan diet. She’s shared some shots to social media featuring such vegan staples as meatless breakfast sausage, avocado toast, and fruit.

In fact, Kardashian specifically credits the diet as the thing that shrunk her waistline. In a recent Instagram clip, Kardashian showed off her figure in a skintight dress, while her friend, Anastasia Soare, grilled her about how she got so fit. Kardashian laughed off Soare’s suggestion that she might have had ribs removed and stated: “Honestly, being a vegan now helps.”

Kardashian might laugh about the idea of body-altering plastic surgery, but many online critics aren’t so amused. Following her appearance at the Met Gala, where Kardashian wore a tightly-cinched corset that showed off a waist seemingly too tiny to be real, rumors started swirling about possible plastic surgery. Many claimed that she had ribs removed in order to drastically reduce her waistline, with some critics stating that there’s no way diet and exercise could make such a radical difference. 

Alcantara, Kardashian’s trainer, defended her, stating that she personally knows how hard Kardashian trains in the gym, the speculation will likely continue. After all, plastic surgery rumors aren’t anything new to Kardashian, who has only ever admitted to Botox and fillers, while the majority believe that she’s had anything from facial reconstruction to butt implants. 

In regards to Kardashian’s tiny waist, the truth might never be known. Certainly, following a vegan diet can help people shed some pounds, but can it reduce someone’s waistline by many inches? Kardashian would have her fans believing that it can.
