Inside Kim Kardashian and Damon Thomas’ Marriage and Divorce: From Ecstasy to Abuse Claims
Kim Kardashian has been married and divorced three times. But she rarely speaks about her first marriage to record producer, Damon Thomas. The former pair married when Kardashian was barely out of her teenage years. She alleged that she married Thomas while she was high on ecstasy, and she also alleged physical abuse during their union. Thomas tells a different story.

Thomas and Kardashian met in 1998. In an interview with Vlad TV, Thomas explained that he actually met Kardashian years earlier when she was dating Michael and Janet Jackson’s nephew. He says it was Kardashian who pursued him. The pair married in 2000 by eloping. In a 2018 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she claimed she was high on ecstasy at the time.
Thomas and Kardashian tied the knot in Las Vegas. At the time, she was 19 years old. “I got married on ecstasy. The first time,” she said, referring to her marriage to Thomas. She told Harper’s Bazaar years earlier that with Thomas being 10 years her senior, she looked to him as more mature and followed his lead.
“I used to be so dependent on the guys I was in a relationship with,” she said at the time.“I don’t know why, because I wasn’t raised that way. If I looked at myself at 19, I would shake myself and be like, ‘Wake up; you are way too smart for this…’ We went to Vegas, he said, ‘Let’s get married!’ and I said, ‘OK.’”
Damon Thomas denies Kim Kardashian’s claims
Thomas has been mum on Kardashian, with the exception of reportedly telling In Touch Magazine that his ex-wife was desperate for fame. But in his chat with Vlad TV, he denies Kardashian’s account of their wedding day and her being high on ecstasy.
“Yeah, I don’t remember that at all,” Thomas, now 51, said. “I think it’s unfair to make those kind of blanket statements because we have kids now, you know? I have children. My kid goes to the same school her kid goes to. So imagine him when he has to deal with that at school.”
He also alleged that he left his Calabasses mansion and downsized to a smaller home in Hidden Hills, CA in an effort to financially support Kardashian’s family. Per Thomas, the couple participated in family vacations together and were a loving couple. He’s stunned by Kardashian’s recounting of events.

Obviously, the marriage between Thomas and Kardashian didn’t pan out. They eventually divorced in 2004, with Thomas initiating the proceedings. But the divorce was brutal. In court documents obtained by Daily Mail, Kardashian alleged that Thomas became controlling and possessive.
“Damon decided what we would do and when we would do it. He was very much the King of the castle,” Kardashian said in her filing. “Damon told me not to leave the house unless I first told him when and where I was going,” Kardashian said. “Sometimes, Damon would not allow me to leave. For example, he would not allow me to go to the mall alone, or with friends. He told me that he did not want men to have an opportunity to ‘hit’ on me. He would not allow me to go out to dinner with friends I have known since I was a child. If Damon were not home, I was required to call him and ask permission to leave the house.”
Things eventually escalated to physical violence, at least according to Kardashian. “He became enraged and punched me in the face. My face was bruised and swollen as a result,” she said in her paperwork. “I thought about calling the police but was afraid and decided not to do so. On another occasion, we were at the marital residence and had an argument. He grabbed my arm and slammed me against the sliding mirror of the closet in our bedroom.”
