Kim Kardashian Was Only 12 Years Old When She Wanted to Be a Reality TV Star
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian knew from early childhood that she was destined to be on a reality show. The Kardashian/Jenner clan is currently filming season 18 of their popular Keeping up with the Kardashians series, with no end in sight. It seems like Kardashian’s childhood dreams have most definitely come true — and then some.
Kim Kardashian’s childhood aspirations were to be on reality TV
On a recent episode of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Kardashian admits that her love of reality TV hit hard when she was only 12 years old. It was inspired by her obsession with the 1992 reality tv hit: The Real World.
Kardashian, like the rest of young Americans her age, was obsessed with the show when it first aired. She was intrigued by the chaos of the participants’ lives which were broadcast for everyone to see.
Surprised, Jimmy clarifies by asking her: “But, why did you like the reality show? Did you just go ‘I would be interesting on that’?”
Her answer? Yes. Kardashian goes on to explain that her life is perfect for entertaining audiences.
“People would come up to me and say, ‘No sitcom writer could write this reality of your family. No one would believe it,” she recalled.
The Kardashian family is perfect for reality stardom
Fans of Keeping up with the Kardashians will confirm that the Kardashian/Jenner family certainly has enough drama to fill its 17 seasons of airtime. Even Kardashian admits that the never-ending cycle of relationship drama within her close family makes for good television.
What started as a leaked-sex-tape scandal involving Kardashian could have ended in disaster. Instead, the family used their newfound notoriety to help launch the beginning of their reality show, the same show that is now one of the longest-running reality shows on TV.
Aside from their scandalous personal lives, each sister has carved out a name for themselves in the social media world, with large followings and personal entrepreneurial endeavors. The Kardashian/Jenner sisters have used their fame to further careers in fashion, makeup, and the entertainment industry.
Kardashian recently launched her new shapewear line with the self-title of “Skims” — a cute play on words that she came up with to showcase her undergarments “skin-like” quality.
Kim Kardashian is proud of her show ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’
When you are always in the spotlight, the media seems to scrutinize every little detail of your life. Being on a reality show only amplifies that experience for Kardashian and her family. But, the mother of four says she is really proud of the show, and how it has the ability to be something that people can relate to.
When discussing sharing the intimate details of her life, or discussing topics that are sensitive, Kardashian admits it can be a challenge.
“It’s hard at times to share it all the time,” she said. “But with all that, we love to share what we’re going through, and we found that’s it’s been really helpful for other people that are dealing with something similar.”
Kardashian goes on to explain in another interview: “People are interested in the show because there are so many of us. There’s always something someone can relate to.”
Being relatable is one of the show’s many strengths. In fact, polls indicate that viewers have voted the show as one which “never gets old.” That is profound for a show which has spanned several generations and more than a decade of TV.
Kim Kardashian must be doing something right
Not only has Kardashian become a household name in the world of fashion, beauty, and entertainment, but the talented star is tackling politics by supporting criminal justice reform and attending law school. The reality star has some serious goals and aspirations that extend far beyond just being famous for being famous. By channeling the dreams of her inner-12-year-old, Kardashian is able to use her influence and status to make positive changes in the world.
