Kim Kardashian West Announces ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ Is Ending After Over a Decade On TV
It is truly the end of an era.
After more than a decade on air, Keeping Up With the Kardashians is coming to an end. Kim Kardashian West announced the “difficult news” in a statement shared on her social media that now has all of us fans ugly crying.
The show has been a fan-favorite on E! ever since its debut and something that seemed as if it could go on forever. But apparently, Kardashian West and her family are ready to move on to other things. Here’s what we know.
‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ enjoyed a long run on E!
Keeping Up With the Kardashians has been a fixture in households around the world for over a decade. It premiered in 2007 when the KarJenners were still relatively unknown. But their family dynamic, relatability, and hilarious antics quickly won fans over and helped them achieved global fame.
The show also spawned over a half-dozen spinoffs, including Dash Dolls, Kourtney & Kim Take New York, Khloé & Kourtney Take Miami, Khloe & Lamar, and Life of Kylie, before Kardashian West announced its end.
‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ will officially end in 2021
Kardashian West broke the news on Instagram on the evening of Sept. 8, saying she and her family had reached a joint decision to end the show.
“After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way,” she continued.
“Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives,” Kardashian West added.
“Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever,” she concluded, noting the last season will air in 2021.
‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ will return later in September
In the meantime, there are at least a few more episodes on the way before the show closes. The second half of season 18 will premiere on Sept. 17 after it was paused due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
It is set to look a bit different, as Kourtney Kardashian announced in 2019 that she was stepping back to focus on her children after repeatedly clashing with her sisters over her filming schedule. Though she won’t be on camera as much as before, Khloé Kardashian has said that fans will get to see Rob Kardashian more now that he’s back in the spotlight.
So let’s enjoy it while it lasts. Tune in to KUWTK when it returns on Sept. 17.
