Family traditions are very important to the Kardashians. Not only because they bring everyone together, but for the reason that they’re a sweet reminder of memorable moments the famous siblings once shared with their dad, Robert Kardashian Sr.

The Kardashian patriarch was big on bonding with his kids and implemented many family traditions that the reality stars still do to this day.

While the Kardashians enjoy carrying out their late father’s favorite pastimes, there was one activity Kim Kardashian West refused to do after his passing.

Kardashian couldn’t bring herself to do her father’s favorite activity

When Kardashian Sr. passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003, his death took a significant toll on each one of his kids.

While the Kardashian siblings found their own ways of coping with his death, coming to terms with his passing didn’t get any easier as years passed.

Though being reminded of their late father still hurts, the Kardashians make sure to keep his memory alive by reinstating the same traditions he set forth when they were young.

Although these family traditions are a sweet reminder of their dad, there was a time Kardashian West found these special activities to be a little too painful.

Back in 2018, the KKW mogul opened up the family tradition that always makes her think of her dad and shared the significance it’s had on her since his passing.

In a now-deleted post shared on her blog and app, the reality star reflected on her family’s love for skiing and revealed that her father was the one who got everyone into sport.

“My parents put me in ski school when I was 3,” she said, adding that they did the same to sisters Kourtney and Khloé, and brother, Rob. “My siblings and I all learned to ski at a really young age.”

Kardashian went on to share that though loved skiing, her passion for the sport fizzled out once her father received his cancer diagnosis. Less than eight weeks later, he passed away.

“After my dad died, I didn’t ski for over a decade,” she revealed. “We usually skied together on Thanksgiving, which was his holiday to take us.”

Kardashian has recently gotten back into this family tradition

While skiing still reminds her of her late father, the SKIMS founder has since gotten back into the sport and couldn’t be happier she did.

After finding her love for skiing again, Kardashian decided to implement this tradition into her own family and now takes her husband and children to the wintery slopes every year.

“Once I finally got back out there, it was as if I never left. Now, I make it a point to go at least once a year with my family.”

Now that she’s rediscovered her love for the winter sport, the KKW mogul looks forward to her little ones adopting the same passion.

“North has already had two years of ski lessons and I can’t wait to start Saint next year!” she said. “It’s such a fun activity to do together as a family.”

So far, Kardashian has stuck by her word of keeping this family tradition going and now, frequently visits the slopes with her famous crew.

Back in March 2018, Kardashian and her sisters, Kourtney and Kendall, enjoyed a weekend getaway in Park City, Utah where they skied, snowboarded and snapped a few selfies on the ski lift.

A few weeks later, the reality star found herself back on the slopes in Wyoming with hubby, Kanye West.

In December 2019, Kardashian and West celebrated the New Year back in Wyoming with their kids and documented their fun in the snow on her Instagram Stories.
