Kim Porter’s ex-husband believes she risked her safety to warn him about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

Brown and Porter share one son, Quincy Brown. Combs adopted him when he was in a relationship with Porter. Brown said people believed he was an absentee parent as a result.

“You have to keep in mind what people were fed in this propaganda against me over the years; ‘Oh, Puffy did this and adopted your kid’ … if you hadn’t noticed, his name is still Brown,” Brown said in the Peacock documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy (via The Hollywood Reporter). “People thought I was absent and things of that nature.”

He claimed there was more going on than people knew. He said Porter warned him to stay away from Combs, not wanting to stoke his ire.

“I was basically instructed … [Combs] wasn’t too happy about anyone with a relationship with Kimberly … Kimberly said, ‘Don’t get involved. You will get killed,’” he said. “Even to the point where I remember …”

Brown trailed off, noting he shouldn’t say more as a result of ongoing legal matters. Still, he said he felt inclined to listen to Porter.

“Let’s just say you gotta listen to Kimberly,” he said, “because not only was she trying to save me, she was putting her own life in danger.”

Kim Porter and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs broke up for good in 2007

After reuniting with Combs in 2003 and welcoming two daughters together, Porter learned he’d had a child with another woman. This was the final straw for her.

“I wasn’t even coming from the place of who, what, why,” Porter told Essence (via People). “I laid low and did what women do: I did my background work, collected information [about the other woman]. But I wasn’t even on it like that because I was pregnant, and what was bubbling inside me was a blessing from God. I couldn’t let my energy be on that. I didn’t have time for any drama, trauma, and bull****.”

He eventually confessed his infidelity, but Porter said it was too late

“He told me that he may have gotten himself into a situation and he may have fathered another child outside the relationship and I said, ‘Really? Well, I already knew. I’m glad you decided to be a man,’” Porter said. “I was like, ‘Dude, this is so wack I can’t even respect you right now.’ And for me, once the respect is gone, I’m not even listening to you.”

“This documentary recycles and perpetuates the same lies and conspiracy theories that have been slung against Mr. Combs for months. It is disappointing to see NBC and Peacock rolling in the same mud as unethical tabloid reporters. By providing a platform for proven liars and opportunists to make false criminal accusations, the documentary is irresponsible journalism of the worst kind.”
