She shared what their relationship was like after they broke up the second time.

Kim Porter said she and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs got along after they broke up

After Porter and Combs broke up, they continued to have a relationship. While she did not want to be with him anymore, she didn’t hold onto resentment towards him.

“You know how when two people go their separate ways, most of the time there’s animosity?” she told Essence. “It’s not like that with us.”

She believed that they would always be friends.

“Sean and I have this bond, this friendship,” she said. “It’s not about ‘if you’re faithful to me, if I’m being faithful to you.’ We’re friends.”

She still felt she could confide in him. She also wanted to be friends with him because of their children.

“I’m the person he can tell his innermost thoughts to and he’s that person for me,” she said. “He still calls me every day and we talk. There’s no ill feeling or ‘I can’t stand you, I hate you, don’t call.’ There’s none of that. We have three children together so that’s just not an option. We’re committed to our children even if we couldn’t commit to each other.”

She said the end of their relationship was acrimonious

While Porter continued to enjoy Combs’ presence in her life, she wanted no part of a romantic relationship with him. She was no longer happy.

“I left because at this point in my life I want something different for myself,” she said. “I invested ten years, I have children, and I’ve always stood by him. But now it’s time for me and what I want to do for Kim.”

She learned of his infidelity and lost respect for him. He did not admit it to her until long after she found out about it, which didn’t help.

“He told me that he may have gotten himself into a situation and he may have fathered another child outside the relationship and I said, ‘Really? Well, I already knew. I’m glad you decided to be a man,’ ” Porter said, via People. “I was like, ‘Dude, this is so wack I can’t even respect you right now.’ And for me, once the respect is gone, I’m not even listening to you.”
