Kim Porter Said Her Respect for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Was ‘Gone’ Before She Broke Up With Him
Kim Porter and Sean “Diddy” Combs broke up twice because of infidelity on his part. After their first breakup, Porter decided to get back together with Combs because she believed he proved himself to her. She said that when she learned of further infidelity, she lost all respect for him.

Combs and Porter got back together in 2003 and welcomed twin daughters in 2006. Porter later learned that Combs fathered a child with another woman during this time. A friend broke the news to her while she was still pregnant.
“I wasn’t even coming from the place of who, what, why,” Porter told Essence (via People). “I laid low and did what women do: I did my background work, collected information [about the other woman]. But I wasn’t even on it like that because I was pregnant, and what was bubbling inside me was a blessing from God. I couldn’t let my energy be on that. I didn’t have time for any drama, trauma, and bull****.”
After she had done her own research, Combs confessed to her. Porter said it was too little, too late.
“He told me that he may have gotten himself into a situation and he may have fathered another child outside the relationship and I said, ‘Really? Well, I already knew. I’m glad you decided to be a man,’” Porter said. “I was like, ‘Dude, this is so wack I can’t even respect you right now.’ And for me, once the respect is gone, I’m not even listening to you.”
She wished she found out about his infidelity from him
While Combs eventually confessed to his infidelity, Porter wished she found out about it from him.
“I would have preferred to find out from him because that’s a man,” she said. “I know it’s hard for anyone to say to their significant other, ‘I’ve gotten into some s*** and I got a baby on the way.’ But men do get caught up in things; I’m not naive to that.”
She said she would have been more understanding if he was the one to break the news to her.
“Still, there’s a right and a wrong way to handle it. Because, most of all, we were friends,” she said. “Even if I couldn’t have understood it as a woman, I would have understood it as a friend.”
Kim Porter said she and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs got along better as friends
Porter no longer wanted to be in a romantic relationship with Combs, but she wanted to maintain a friendship.
“You know how when two people go their separate ways, most of the time there’s animosity? It’s not like that with us,” she told Essence. “Sean and I have this bond, this friendship. It’s not about ‘if you’re faithful to me, if I’m being faithful to you.’ We’re friends.”
She said they were still very close.
“I’m the person he can tell his innermost thoughts to and he’s that person for me,” she said. “He still calls me every day and we talk. There’s no ill feeling or ‘I can’t stand you, I hate you, don’t call.’ There’s none of that. We have three children together so that’s just not an option. We’re committed to our children even if we couldn’t commit to each other.”
