King Charles Still Has a Cheeky Nickname for Former Sister-In-Law Sarah Ferguson — and She ‘Loves’ It
King Charles is one of four siblings. He has one sister, Princess Anne, and two brothers, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Charles and his siblings have always been pretty close, taking on royal duties together for decades. Andrew, however, was relieved of his royal duties after his connections to disgraced billionaire Jeffrey Epstein were uncovered.
Still, Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has remained on close terms with the royal family. And she even revealed that Charles still has the same cheeky nickname for her that he did years ago.
Sarah Ferguson revealed that King Charles still calls her ‘Fergie’
Charles and Sarah were close from a young age because, in addition to marrying the king’s brother, Sarah was also good friends with Charles’ ex-wife, Princess Diana. The two have been through a lot together, and while Sarah has not been a working royal family member since her high-profile split with Andrew in the 1990s, her two daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have always kept her closely intertwined with the royal family.
“I’ve known the King all my life, and I absolutely adore him,” Sarah said in a recent interview with The Sunday Times. “He’s kind and makes me laugh, and I love that he still calls me Fergie.” Sarah joked about when Charles would come visit her home, Dummer Down, and how the two would goof off while playing in the pool. “He thought it was hilarious,” she said.
Despite Sarah and Andrew’s divorce, most royal family members continued to welcome Sarah into the family, and at this point, she is closer with Charles than he is with some of his own immediate family members.
King Charles and Prince Andrew reportedly have a strained relationship
Andrew and Charles were close up until the story broke that Andrew had maintained a longtime friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and was accused of sexually assaulting a minor years earlier, whom he later settled a lawsuit with. As a result, the queen stripped him of his royal duties and military titles, and Andrew has not done any work on behalf of the royal family over the last few years.
Rumor has it that Charles reportedly cut off Andrew’s finances earlier this year as he desperately tried to get Andrew to move out of the royal family’s Crown Estate and into Frogmore Cottage. While the brothers might still be on speaking terms, it doesn’t look like they have the relationship they once did.
