The royal feud between Prince Harry and his father and brother has been happening for years now. Tensions were felt as far back as 2017, when rumors swirled that Prince William thought Harry was moving too quickly with Meghan Markle. Since then, things between William and Harry have not improved, although Harry and his father have tried to make strides in their relationship recently.

Now, though, there are rumors that King Charles could be close to taking a “significant” step in repairing his relationship with Harry: a trip to California. But based on past actions, it’s hard to imagine this is the case.

Could King Charles actually visit Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in California?

There are constant rumors swirling around the royal family, their decisions, and their relationships. So, when theories churn that Charles could be planning a trip to California, it’s hard to take it as fact.

“If King Charles is willing to make the effort and put forth the time and energy to visit Harry in America, it could be a significant gesture of his desire to mend their relationship,” royal expert Louella Alderson told The Mirror. “It’s possible that he may be more willing to address any issues and work towards finding a resolution than he has been previously.”

But could it actually happen? That’s where we have doubts. If Charles wanted to address issues with Harry, then why didn’t the king make an effort to attend Harry’s Invictus Games ceremony in the UK in early May? A spokesperson said the father and son’s schedules didn’t align, but the event was likely planned well in advance, and if Charles wasn’t willing to move a previous engagement around to support his son, then we have to assume it’s because he didn’t want to.

King Charles and Prince Harry’s relationship doesn’t suggest a visit will happen

When Charles was facing cancer earlier this year, Harry flew to the UK. But he only stayed for 24 hours and reportedly spent less than an hour with his father; plus, Meghan Markle did not go with him. That, coupled with Charles missing the Invictus Games ceremony, suggests that planning a trip to California isn’t going to happen.

Although Charles does reportedly care very much about his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, Meghan and the king have not seen each other since 2022. While Meghan likely supports whatever decision Harry makes about reconnecting with his family, that doesn’t necessarily mean she wants to host Charles in her home. The bottom line: we’ll believe this when we see it.
