King Charles Could ‘Jeopardize’ His Relationship with Prince William If He Chooses to Reconnect With Prince Harry
Prince William and his younger brother, Prince Harry, haven’t exactly had the closest relationship over the last few years. The two princes had a falling out that began sometime around 2018, and they have hardly spoken since Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, departed the royal family in 2020.
Although King Charles has kept up a relationship with his younger son, it has reportedly remained a point of contention between Charles and William. Now, one expert says that if Charles chooses to reunite with Harry, it could cause a rift between the king and William.
Prince Harry could cause a divide between King Charles and Prince William
Charles and William have always remained close, but Harry has been the odd one out over the last few years. Earlier this year, though, Charles and Harry reconnected shortly after Charles learned that he’d been diagnosed with cancer. In the months since, Harry and Charles have reportedly kept up a relationship but haven’t seen each other; Harry has reportedly still not spoken to William. Now, one expert thinks that Charles and William’s relationship could be impacted if Charles reconnects again with his younger son.
“I know from speaking to my own sources that if the king does talk to Harry about a possible return to royal life, it would need to involve William and that may jeopardize his good rapport with his elder son,” royal commentator Emily Andrews told Woman Magazine, according to Express. She continued by saying that William and Kate Middleton have had a difficult year that it’s not a good time “to open bilateral discussions on the renegade royal Harry.”
William and Kate did acknowledge Harry publicly on his birthday this year for the first time since 2021.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will likely not attend Christmas at Sandringham
It’s been years since Harry and Meghan spent Christmas with the royals; you’d have to go all the way back to 2018 to find their last shared Christmas. By 2019, tensions had already heated between the brothers, and Harry and Meghan were on the brink of their high-profile exit. The two spent the holidays in Canada and left the United Kingdom for six weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year’s.
This year, not much will change. Harry has said publicly that due to the Sussex family’s lack of security, he and Meghan would not return to the UK with their kids any time soon. That likely won’t change in time for Christmas, and even if it did, it’s hard to say at this point if Harry and Meghan are on good enough terms with the royals to spend a holiday with them.
