King Charles: ‘Plainly Apparent’ He is ‘Not Well’: Report
King Charles finds himself at a health crossroads. The United Kingdom’s ruler continues to battle cancer and wishes to maintain the full schedule he has kept for many years. However, a new report claims it is “plainly apparent” the king is “not well.” Will Charles be able to continue with his plans?
Is King Charles experiencing continued health issues after his cancer diagnosis?
The Daily Beast’s Tom Sykes detailed information reportedly provided by those close to King Charles. Sykes’ sources say the monarch has been “sleeping a lot,” and it’s “plainly apparent he is not well” during the family’s Scotland holiday.
Sykes’ source says, “The king is sleeping a lot. He is not one to sit around doing nothing, so relaxing for him takes the form of reading, writing, painting, and gardening. [Charles] has always loved throwing on his wellies and getting out in the garden. That’s his happy place.”
While the royal family is on holiday at Balmoral, Charles reportedly stays at Birkhall on the estate’s grounds. It was formerly the retreat of Charles’ grandmother, the late Queen Mother. It has been reported that Charles prefers the more intimate setting of Birkhall rather than the larger Balmoral.
Sykes’ source said, “I have tremendous admiration for the incredibly brave way Charles has conducted himself over the past six months, but he is not well, it is plainly apparent just from looking at him, and things can go wrong very fast with cancer.”
“He is the king, and everyone understands he wants to get on and do the job. His bravery and courage in the face of what he is facing is amazing,” the source concluded.
Camilla, Queen Consort, revealed rare Charles health update
Camilla Parker Bowles shared a rare health update about King Charles during a visit to the Dyson Cancer Center at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, England. Although her comments were brief, they said a lot about the king’s current condition and how he’s handling his cancer treatment.
When asked about Charles’ health, Camilla replied, per The Mirror, “He is doing very well.” The queen consort then chatted with nurse and cancer patient Paul Holdway, where she continued to share more information about the king’s health.
Camilla asked Holdway how he was feeling, and he responded, “I am feeling very tired.” Camilla responded by indirectly referring to Charles, saying, “Men won’t admit it.”
King Charles announced a cancer diagnosis in February 2024
King Charles announced he had cancer on Feb. 5, 2024. The disease was discovered while Charles was undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate in January.
However, the palace did not clarify if the cancer doctors found was connected to the initial prostate treatment. Nor have they spoken of the type of cancer Charles continues therapy for.
The initial Buckingham Palace release explains the king’s complete diagnosis and course of treatment, per the BBC. “During the king’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted.”
It continued, “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
The statement concluded, “The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
King Charles continues to receive cancer treatment. It has not been determined when this course of treatment will conclude.
