Kodak Black Apologizes for Disrespecting Lauren London Post Nipsey Hussle’s Death
It’s been over a year since Nipsey Hussle’s tragic and unexpected death. The rapper and entrepreneur’s family, including his partner Lauren London, have kept his legacy alive through a variety of projects. Fans are still mourning Hussle’s lost but one person who did not appear bothered by Hussle’s death was rapper Kodak Black. A video of Black vying for the attention of London surfaced after Hussle’s death and the backlash was swift. Black is now apologizing to London and Hussle’s family.
Kodak Black remarks about Lauren London after Nipsey Hussle’s death
Millions were shocked when Hussle was gunned down in March 2019 and immediately expressed their heartbreak and concern for Hussle’s longtime love, London. Hussle and London dated for over five years and shared a son together. They also had a blended family, with both having children from previous relationships. Just days prior to Hussle’s death, the couple were featured in a stunning spread for GQ Magazine, telling their love story for the first time in that form.
Black was not as sensitive to London’s loss. A video circulated of Black seemingly gloating that he may have a chance with London in the aftermath of Hussle’s murder. “Lauren London that’s baby, though,” Black said at the time. “She ’bout to be out here single. She fittin’ to be a whole widow out here. I’ll be the best man I can be for her. I’ll give her a whole year. She might need a whole year to be crying and shit for him.”
Many blasted London for his incentive comments and timing, including T.I. “The respect of a non-respectable person is not valued,” T.I. said at the time in a video shared by TMZ. “I’m respected by respectable people, people who actually can be held to high regard. I mean, listen man, to be honest with you, that’s all his brain capacity could come up with. I urge him to go educate himself and enlighten himself because if he knew better, he’d do better.”
He also noted that he would pray for Black to grow wiser and more mature.
Kodak Black apologizes for past comments he made about Lauren London
Over a year after his comments, Black is now offering up an apology to London and Hussle’s family. He took to Instagram with a portrait of Hussle and a message, asking for forgiveness.
“Willin To Accept When I’m Wrong & Stand Firm When I’m Right. The Whole World Know Your Example Was A Guiding Light. I Pray Your Fam Light & Accept This Humble Apology In My Kite,” he wrote in part. “I Never Meant To Disrespect Your Queen, Homie I Was Really Respecting Your Scene.”
The Shade Room reposted Black’s post and his most outspoken critic, T.I., appeared to respect his change of heart and accepted Black’s apology. “That’s solid,” T.I. wrote in the comment section of The Shade Room’s post. “Free @kodakblack.”
Black has been serving time after being sentenced to four years in prison for lying on background paperwork for a gun purchase.
London, not Hussle’s family, have publicly responded to Black’s apology. London has used her Instagram account as a dedication to Hussle, sharing intimate photos of the slain rapper and philanthropist and their family.
