However, they each have their own set of regrets. And in Kourtney Kardashian’s eyes, one thing her mother did when they were younger is still unforgivable.

The Kardashian family might have plenty of money, but their lives haven’t been a walk in the park. When the kids were barely teenagers, their mother and father, Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian, announced their divorce after more than a decade of marriage. That’s difficult for anyone to go through, but the family was then thrust into the spotlight in 1995 when Kardashian joined O.J. Simpson’s defense team during his murder trial. Their father passed away from cancer in 2003. Jenner married Bruce Jenner in 1991, and the couple divorced in 2015 after more than 20 years together; Bruce Jenner has since transitioned and is now Caitlyn Jenner. Two divorces, losing a father, and constantly being in the spotlight doesn’t make for an easy childhood.

Jenner and Kardashian seemed to have the perfect life. They were a wealthy family with four children growing up in California, but Jenner still felt like something was missing. She met former professional soccer player Todd Waterman through a mutual friend, and though she knew it wasn’t right, she engaged in an affair with him. Eventually, Kardashian learned what was going on, and he reportedly hired a private investigator to confirm his hunch. The affair caused their marriage to crumble, and they divorced in the early 1990s. However, Jenner still attended O.J. Simpson’s murder trial to show support.

When Jenner once suggested that Kardashian’s now-ex-boyfriend, Younes Bendjima, was similar to her situation with Todd Waterman, Kardashian clapped back. “I’m actually not married, and I’m not having an affair,” Kardashian said on the show. She went on to tell Khloé Kardashian that the affair wasn’t something she ever wanted to rehash with her mother. “I think it’s not something, really, that my mom can fix,” she said.
The whole family remains very close, despite their mother’s mistake
While Jenner and her family members all wish the affair had never happened, Jenner does do her best to remain close with all of her kids. The family is thick as thieves, despite every single negative thing they have gone through since the affair that broke up their family. Today, Jenner manages all of her children’s business endeavors and keeps the entire family functioning. Though they’ve had their hiccups, Kardashian and her mother are still extremely close.
