Kourtney Kardashian Says Being on ‘KUWTK’ Is Like Being on a Hamster Wheel
It’s no secret that Kourtney Kardashian has been struggling in the past few years with Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Though the eldest KarJenner sibling has spent more than a decade of her life on the reality TV show, in this current phase of her life, she is looking to do something different.
Kardashian has always been open about her personal struggles and dating life, including her anxiety and her relationship with the father of her children, Scott Disick. Now, that has changed. The mom-of-three is willing to share some aspects of her life, but with her main focuses on being a mom, her lifestyle brand, Poosh, and her relationship, some things are just off-limits.
Though Kardashian has previously spoken about her issues with always being “on” for the camera, she’s gotten even more candid about why KUWTK is not a priority for her at this time.
Kourtney Kardashian does not want to talk about her personal life on camera
Though she is still filming KUWTK, the Poosh founder’s time on camera has been cut down drastically. “I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there, ” she told E! News. “But I’m not saying goodbye. But I think you’ll have to see more of it on the new season, season 18. It isn’t airing yet, but it’s being filmed. Currently, in this room.”
This upset Kardashian’s sisters, Kim Kardashian West, and Khloé Kardashian. “Our job is being open and honest and sharing a lot of ourselves and it just seems like for the past few years now, Kourtney hasn’t really been open about her personal life on camera,” Kim explained during an episode of the show. “So all of the days that Kourtney isn’t filming, Khloé and I are picking up the slack and having to share more. Because if we’re not sharing our lives, then what is the show?”
Kourtney Kardashian wants to eventually leave ‘KUWTK’
Dialing back with filming the show is just the first step for Kardashian. Eventually, she hopes her time on Keeping Up with the Kardashians will end altogether. “I always say I want to move away someday and just be away from it all,” she told Paper Magazine. “Sail away. No one will ever see me again. I keep throwing up different places, but then I’ll go there to visit and I’ll be like, ‘Nope, this isn’t it, but glad I came.’ We’ve just been to Finland. And I was like, ‘Check, it’s great for me to visit, but I’m not going to move there.’ Maybe Norway. Switzerland? I’ve got a lot of ideas.”
Being a mother is the most important thing to Kardashian. “I’ve been taking less time with filming and, in general, with work,” Kourtney told Health Magazine. “My sisters don’t like when I say ‘setting boundaries,’ but it’s more about a schedule. I’m trying to put energy into things that are fulfilling and enjoyable. I try to make myself available to my kids to really be a mom. And I want to be in charge of my time and schedule in order to do the things that are bringing me happiness.”
Kourtney Kardashian compared being on ‘KUWTK’ to a hamster wheel
On a recent episode of E!’s In the Room, Kardashian says she was very unhappy prior to making the choice to step back. “I felt like I was on a hamster wheel,” she explained. “I felt like something needed to change.”
Kardashian’s mom, Kris Jenner revealed that taking a step back has been great for her eldest daughter. “You know how we all hit a tipping point? She hit a wall and she was frustrated,” Jenner explained on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. And she felt underappreciated and that her sisters didn’t understand her boundaries. So I think after taking a little bit of time off, she’s seen the light.”
