Kourtney Kardashian’s Fans Are Slamming Poosh for Body-Shaming Its Readers
Whether it is ego or to make more money, it seems like one of the Kardashians is always coming up with something new. Almost two years ago, Kourtney Kardashian started her own website and an Instagram account called Poosh.
While the Poosh Instagram account quickly garnered more than 2.3 million followers, some fans don’t think much of the content Kardashian has to offer on the site.
Who is Kourtney Kardashian?
Kardashian is the eldest child of the late Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner. The 41-year-old Kardashian has two younger sisters, Kim and Khloe, and a younger brother, Rob.
She also has two half-sisters, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner, who were born during her mom’s second marriage to Bruce Jenner. She also gained two stepbrothers, Burton Jenner, and Brody Jenner through her mother’s marriage.
Kardashian had an on-again-off-again relationship with Scott Disick from 2006-2015. Together they have three children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign.
Kardashian first became familiar to reality-television viewers while appearing on NBC’s Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive in 2005, according to her credits on TV Guide. In 2007, she along with her mother, her stepfather, siblings, and half-siblings started the E! show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians (KUWTK) with subsequent offshoot shows to follow. They took off like wildfire and have been hot ever since, with KUWTK now in its 19th season.
What exactly is Poosh?
According to the Poosh website, its mission is to “educate, motivate, create, and curate a modern lifestyle, achievable by all.” Its purpose is to cover topics such as health and wellness, lifestyles, beauty, motherhood, interior design, and more.
The website and its advice are free. “We’ll all be able to see exactly what Kourtney Kardashian and her team churn out as their ‘modern guide to living your best life,'” it claims.
Coincidently, Poosh is also a beauty brand. And, of course, you can purchase Kardashian’s beauty line, Poosh, from the website. Also included for sale are such things as a Rose Gold Leopard Face Covering, a Sydney Double Strand Pearl Thong, and an Ora 3 Oral Sex Stimulator.
Some Kardashian fans just aren’t happy Poosh
According to Refinery29, it is difficult to understand just what the Poosh website and Instagram posts stand for. The Instagram page claims that Poosh, “isn’t a monologue. It’s a dialogue.” Refinery29 says the website is too vague and asks just where does anyone get to be part of the dialogue? Apparently, the website covers a little of everything and fans can respond on Instagram.
One “fan” on Reddit, asked “Wft is wrong with Kourtney? As a copywriter I don’t understand why Kourtney pretends to be such a fitness and healthy living guru. Her Poosh site is nothing else but a clickbait site, created and written by copywriters like me, who can write an article about anything with catchy titles like ‘5 ways to make your skin glowing’ or ‘Eat that fruit everyday – results will amaze you!’ “
Wow, that sounds rather harsh. But it appears what the fan critic is getting to is the website content is rather all over the place trying to attract more readership, or clicks, and there may not be much research behind the writing.
Others agreed. “Exactly honestly she has people posting way TOO much content to the point where you can tell it’s low-quality bc there’s no way people can write that many articles that are actually good and insightful,” was another response.
And yet another critical fan responded, “. . . I get what you mean. Like there could actually be well written posts even if they are based on pseudoscience or just whatsapp forwards. This is just lazy and honestly sad. You can have a lifestyle blog, but at least do more with it. “
Those are biting words, but honesty, will Kardashian care? While some will always be critical, who can argue with success? Kourtney and the rest of the Kardashian clan have made fortunes out of most everything they have tried. Their fanbase is so ginormous that any criticism is merely a slight inconvenience.
