Kris Jenner Praises Son-in-Law Kanye West for Gifting Kim the Robert Kardashian Hologram for Her 40th Birthday
Kim Kardashian West wasn’t the only one touched by her 40th birthday present from Kanye West.
During a recent interview with Bravo‘s Andy Cohen, Kris Jenner opened up about watching the hologram video of her late ex-husband Robert Kardashian, which was her son-in-law’s unique gift to her daughter. While the experience was incredibly special for Kim, Jenner says it was also an unforgettable moment for the entire Kardashian-Jenner clan, who thought the gift was unlike any other.
Kanye West gave Kim Kardashian West a birthday gift she will never forget
West went all out for his wife’s 40th birthday.
On Oct. 29, Kardashian West took to social media to share a video of the “special” gift the rapper surprised her with on the last day of her lavish birthday trip, which was a hologram message from her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr.
In the video, the incredibly realistic-looking hologram talked for nearly three minutes, wishing the KKW Beauty mogul a happy birthday and gushing over how proud he is of her.
Kardashian West captioned the video, “It is so lifelike and we watched it over and over, filled with lots so tears and emotion. I can’t even describe what this meant to me and my sisters, my brother, my mom and closest friends to experience together. Thank you so much Kanye for this memory that will last a lifetime.”
The gift touched Kardashian West, but not everyone felt the same way
Although Kardashian West and many of her friends who witnessed Robert’s revival were left in awe over West’s beautiful gift, some people weren’t moved by the rapper’s “special surprise from heaven.”
While some thought the gift was pretty tone-deaf, others were confused by the moving and talking image of the late Robert Kardashian the rapper had commissioned digital experts to create.
Even The View co-host, Whoopi Goldberg, was left scratching her head after Kardashian West gushed about her gift on social media, as she found it odd that the hologram boasted about the “Selah” rapper while addressing the reality star.
“I was with it until he started talking about Kanye and I was like, ‘Wait, whose birthday present is this?'” she said during an episode of The View on Oct. 30. “You know what… it took me a second because I don’t mind it; I would like to leave something where I can say nice things to my great (grandkids). I know it was a joke when he said and ‘you married the greatest, greatest guy’ or whatever he said, but I just thought he should have left it about her, since it was her birthday.”
West’s special gift moved Kris Jenner and the rest of the family
Despite the backlash West’s gift has received from critics, his thoughtful surprise still touched Kardashian West’s loved ones.
In fact, Kris Jenner recently opened up about watching the hologram video of her late ex-husband while appearing on Andy Cohen’s Sirus XM radio show “Radio Andy.”
During the interview, the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch revealed the experience was special for the entire family and called the West’s gift “one of the most incredible things” she’s ever seen.
“You know, we didn’t really know what was happening because it was such a small group of Kim’s inner circle, just our family and a few friends,” the momager began. “And when we were summoned to this room and said you know, ‘Kanye has a gift’ and it’s Kim and me and her sisters and her brother, I didn’t know what was happening.”
“It was a very dark room and we sat down,” she continued. “It started and we just all started to cry. It was, you know intense, but I must have watched it 20 times. It was just, it was really good. It was, he is the king of gifts and, and he worked on that for a really long time. So it was definitely one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. It was really wild.”
She later added, “It was intense, and it was a beautiful, beautiful moment, so I just wanted to kind of enjoy that.”
As for those people criticizing West’s extravagant gift on social media, Jenner didn’t hesitate to defend her son-in-law’s selfless act.
“Listen Andy, we learned a long time ago to have thick skin and you can’t really worry about people that are hating all the time and so miserable and feel the need to reach out and say ugly things,” she said. “Just either enjoy it and appreciate the moment or, you know, don’t. We just can’t get into, you know, who’s thinking what.”
