Why Kris Jenner Pushed Kim Kardashian Into Posing for Playboy — Even Though She Didn’t Want To
In 1953, Marilyn Monroe took it all off for the first cover of Playboy magazine. Other celebrities such as Madonna, Pamela Anderson, and Drew Barrymore followed in her footsteps over the years. Once the magazine received pop culture status, it was seen as a way to create media buzz and promote emerging careers.
Back in 2007, Kim Kardashian even graced the cover of Hugh Hefner’s infamous publication. While most mothers would try to discourage their daughters from taking off their clothes, Kris Jenner was actually the one who convinced Kardashian to do the nude photoshoot.
Kris Jenner is not like other moms
As most of the world knows by now, Jenner is not like most moms. The matriarch of the Kardashian klan is hyper-focused. She stops at nothing to make sure her girls achieve fame, riches, and stardom at any cost.
According to the Even the Rich podcast on Spotify, Kardashian did not want to pose for Playboy. She was extremely nervous and didn’t want the world to think of her as only capable of being a sex symbol. At the same time, she wanted nothing more than to be famous and taken seriously.
The first season of Keeping up with The Kardashians (KUWTK) was just beginning, and Jenner saw the Playboy cover as a way to create media hype around the new series. The ambitious mom encouraged Kardashian to take it all off for Playboy. Doing as she was instructed, the now-mother of four did the photoshoot, wearing nothing but a long strand of pearls.
Jenner reportedly told her that she looked great and stood behind the cameras as her daughter posed for the magazine.
Jenner has always been the master manipulator
Jenner has always been known among KUWTK fans for manipulating much of the fame she and her family has gained over the years. In a previous episode of the reality show, Kim and Khloe throw a cake in their mom’s face and accuse her of bribing, lying, and scamming. Jenner’s response is, “They are life lessons. Don’t ever forget.”
BuzzFeed reported that the 65-year-old momager revealed in her memoir, “Every day, I woke up and walked into my office and asked myself, ‘What move do you need to make today?’ It was very calculated. My business decisions and strategies were very intentional, definite, and planned to the nth degree.”
She has manipulated every aspect of her family’s lives in search of riches beyond her wildest dreams. According to OK!, Jenner was responsible for leaking Kardashian’s infamous sex tape, which is now considered the “most-watched X-rated video of all time.”
The authors of Jenner’s recently released unauthorized biography claim, “She was there every step of the way as a middleman was brought in to market it to an adult entertainment company.” They also say that her signature appeared on the contract.
It seems she will stop at nothing to keep the public interested in her family’s affairs. In 2019, Kylie decided to follow in her big sister’s footsteps and pose nude for Playboy with her then-boyfriend Travis Scott. There is no indication that the stop at nothing mom was involved, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to think she put that deal together as well.
The end of an era
This year will mark the final season of KUWTK. After 14 years and 20 seasons, the Kardashians are ready to turn off the cameras and find a new focus.
Of course, that doesn’t mean this will be the last we see of the super-rich family. The hard-working business entrepreneurs will no doubt continue to fill social media feeds as they promote their newest products.
Living life in front of the cameras has taught the girls to remain relevant at all times, and the momager will most likely continue to push her daughters towards fame and fortune. After all, it’s the only thing they know.
Thankfully, Playboy magazine is no longer in publication. It stops Jenner from getting any ideas to push another daughter towards a nude photo spread.
