Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are on the long list of movie stars who fell in love while working with each other. Many Twilight fans went wild over the fact that they were really dating, but they kept most of their relationship private.

That meant the only drama we know about from those days involve what happened on set. Now Stewart is opening up about their relationship and the rumor that all of it was fake. This is what she had to say and more to know about their past.

The co-stars reportedly started dating in 2009. They refused to talk about their relationship although they were publicly seen together.

“I would never cheapen my relationships by talking about them,” she told Elle. “People say, ‘Just say who you’re dating. Then people will stop being so ravenous about it.’ It’s like, No they won’t! They’ll ask for specifics.”

They still had bad luck because at the end of their relationship Stewart was photographed kissing Rupert Sanders, who directed Snow White and the Huntsman. She issued a public apology for kissing the married director.

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry,” she said in her statement, according to People. Their relationship was soon over in 2012.

Stewart said their relationship was made into a product

The two stars were playing a couple on the screen, which led to a lot of products and merchandise. Stewart talked about how their relationship was treated the same way.

“People wanted me and Rob to be together so badly that our relationship was made into a product,” she told T Magazine. “It wasn’t real life anymore. And that was gross to me.”

She then added, “It’s not that I want to hide who I am or hide anything I’m doing in my life. It’s that I don’t want to become a part of a story for entertainment value.”

She addressed the rumor that their relationship was fake

Sometimes fans are hesitant to believe that relationships between movie co-stars are anything beyond a publicity stunt. Some still wonder if Pattinson and Stewart’s relationship was real.

She talked about this with Howard Stern, according to E! News. “You really think at this point, after all these years, that’s how I live my life?” she asked.

Stewart talked about how it was a struggle to balance being in that relationship and dealing with paparazzi. “But then you deprive yourself of so many experiences,” the actress admitted. “We didn’t walk down the street holding hands because we were like, ‘We don’t wanna give it to ’em.’ But then, we didn’t get to walk down the street holding hands, and it sucked.”

It sounds like there were upsides and downsides to keeping their relationship private. Stewart still has good things to say about her ex given she said, “He’s the best.”
