Kristen Stewart Just Opened Up About Her Relationship With Robert Pattinson Like Never Before
Kristen Stewart is making sure everyone knows she is Team Edward all the way. It has been years since Stewart and Robert Pattinson called it quits and she’s now opening about their romance like never before. Stewart may have some regrets about how things ended, but she still considers her first love one of the best.
Stewart dishes on her relationship with Pattinson
During an interview on The Howard Stern Show, the 29-year-old actress looked back on her highly publicized romance with Pattinson. Stewart assured the audience that her relationship with Pattinson was the real deal and called her former Twilight co-star “the best.”
“We were together for years, that was my first [love],” Stewart shared.
According to People, Stewart admitted that she regrets some aspects of their romance, most of which stem from the very public nature of their relationship. This includes how they couldn’t do a lot of things normal couples enjoy, like holding hands in public.
“… You deprive yourself of so many experiences,” she explained. “We didn’t walk down the street holding hands because we were like, ‘We don’t wanna give it to ’em.’ But then, we didn’t get to walk down the street holding hands, and it sucked.”
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson dated for a number of years until calling it quits in 2013. A year prior to their breakup, Stewart was caught cheating on Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders.
Despite the fling, Pattinson and Stewart reconciled for a brief time before finally parting ways. Both of them have gone on to date multiple people, with Stewart now involved in a relationship with Dylan Meyer.
Kristen Stewart opens up about the affair
Back in 2012, photos emerged of Stewart and Sanders kissing on the set of Snow White and the Huntsman. After her affair with Sanders went public, Stewart issued an apology for her actions.
At the time, Sanders was married to Liberty Ross and was excluded from participating in the movie’s sequel. For her part, Stewart apologized to Pattinson for her lack of judgment and admitted that she loved him very deeply.
While everyone assumed that Kristen Stewart and Sanders had hooked up, the actress now says that they never slept together. The only reason she issued the apology was that she felt pressured by the public.
Stewart also believes that people would not have believed her anyway, so she wrote the apology and tried to move on.
“We lived in a different time then, you know what I mean? I feel like the slut-shaming that went down was so absurd,” Stewart continued.
Stewart reveals why she fell in love
Stewart added that there was nothing she could do about her feelings towards Pattinson. She fell completely head-over-heels with her co-star and genuinely felt like he was the one.
In fact, Stewart revealed that she probably would have married Robert Pattinson if he had proposed to her in the early days of their relationship.
“I wanted to … yeah,” she explained. “I don’t know, I’m not a super-duper traditionalist, but at the same time … every relationship I’ve ever been in, I thought that was it. I’ve never really been the most casual person.”
This, of course, is not the first time Kristen Stewart has opened up about her former lover. Last month, the actress revealed that they struggled to make things work because neither of them had been in a high-profile relationship.
The pressures of the media were so intense that Pattinson and Stewart refused to display any PDA. This helped curb some of the attention on them, but it ultimately prevented them from having a normal romance.
At the end of the day, Stewart believes that their relationship did not work out because of the excessive coverage. Not only did it add stress to their romance, but it also turned it “into a product.”
How does Robert Pattinson feel about their romance?
Despite everything that has happened between Pattinson and Stewart, there are no hard feelings on either side.
In 2014, Pattinson revealed that he does not hold a grudge against Kristen Stewart for how their romance ended and chalked it all up to young people being normal.
Pattinson is currently gearing up for his part in Matt Reeves’ upcoming movie, The Batman, and has been getting his body in top shape to play the caped crusader.
Apart from dishing on their romance, Stewart recently said that she thinks Pattinson will be great as the next Batman and that she could not be happier for him. The Batman is not set to open in theaters until 2021.
Robert Pattinson has been linked to a number of different celebrities since his romance with Stewart. Most notably, he dated and got engaged to British singer FKA Twigs. The pair ended their relationship, however, in 2017. He is currently dating Suki Waterhouse.
