‘KUWTK’ Fans Say the ‘Painfully Awkward’ Final Season Might Not Even Be Worth It
The phrase of the year for this season in Keeping Up With The Kardashians is “it’s the end of an era!” and it has fans feeling emotional and nostalgic about the last 15 years. Most of us watched these women and their kids grow — all the while growing with them.
So, when it comes to the very last season of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, we expected it to be bigger than ever. After all, since when do the Kardashians ever not go big? The problem is this season just isn’t delivering, and fans are frustrated with how ‘painfully awkward’ it has been.
‘KUWTK’ has been running since 2007
Since its season one premiere in 2007, Keeping Up With The Kardashians has been a shockingly big hit, drawing in fans from all over the world and inviting them into their homes, personal lives, professional endeavors, and daily shenanigans.
In a matter of 20 seasons, we have seen Kim step in her dad’s law shoes, Khloe endure two major romantic betrayals (but she got her baby finally!), Kendall take over the modeling industry, Kylie become a makeup icon, and Kourtney separate from Scott Disick and navigate co-parenting.
Not to mention 10 more Kardashian-Jenner babies — Kim’s kids North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm; Kourtney’s kids Mason, Penelope, and Reign; Khloe’s daughter True; Rob Kardashian’s daughter Dream; Kylie’s daughter Stormi.
What’s happening in the final season so far
KUWTK season 20 is surprisingly easy to sum up because nothing is really happening right now — which is why fans are so disappointed. We’ve seen Khloe and Tristan awkwardly go back and forth in their on-again-off-again relationship, chasing aliens and talking surrogacy.
Kourtney and Scott are once again discussing getting back together, but Scott is also once again more invested in the relationship than Kourtney (not to mention there’s the new boo Travis Barker now).
Kim K is studying hard for Law, struggling mom life with work-life post COVID, and although she is currently divorcing husband Kanye West — we haven’t heard a word about it.
As for the Jenners, who knows what’s happening with them? All we know is Kendall might want kids soon.
What fans are saying about their last season
Fans are not happy with the final season. In fact, many of them don’t even think it’s worth the watch because much of it seems forced and rehearsed, with barely any insight into the family’s life.
One fan recently took to Reddit to express their frustration with KUWTK season 20, saying, “This season is just pure trash.” More fans were quick to agree and add their own complaints to the thread.
First off, fans are annoyed that nothing real is happening, despite some very big things going on in their lives. One fan thinks it’s because “they had a big falling out with Seacrest,” while another thinks “they had some kind of falling out with E!” and they’re leaving the good stuff for Hulu. Either way, it’s shockingly uneventful.
And then when it comes to Khloe and Tristan — it just gets weirder. Stranz13 added, “I cringe during every single confessional/interaction between Khloe and Tristan. It’s unbearable to watch! They are so painfully awkward around each other, and Tristan’s one liners and come backs… I just can’t. Everything seems extremely staged and poorly acted.”
Whatever the reason, it seems it may be better just to skip the last season and go straight to their next project with Hulu when it premieres. On the other hand, it’s hard not to see it through after nearly 15 years of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and only a few episodes to get through. It looks like we’ll be cringing through another few episodes then!
