‘KUWTK’ Viewers Miss How the Show Used to Be
Keeping Up with the Kardashians started taking over the airwaves in 2007 when it first premiered on the E! channel. More than a decade later, and fans are still obsessed with the cable television reality show that made the Kardashian klan famous.
But, according to Reddit users, viewers are missing an important element of how the show used to be.
The early years of ‘KUWTK’
When the show first began, Kendall was a mere 11 years of age and Kylie was only 9. Over the years, their entry into the world of beauty and fashion has been heavily documented on the hit show. Kim, the most well-known of the sisters, didn’t know Kanye West existed yet. She was working as a personal stylist for Lindsay Lohan and gained fame from her infamous sex tape.
Khloe, the youngest Kardashian sibling, rose in popularity in 2009 when her marriage to basketball star, Lamar Odom, played out on “KUWTK”. Kourtney was just starting to date Scott Disick, who is the father of her three children.
Momager Kris was married to Bruce Jenner, who is now known as Caitlyn. Needless to say, a lot has changed in the wonderful world of the Kardashians.
What the reality show used to be like
In the early years of the E! channel sensation, the Kardashian sisters were very close. They shared all of the gory details of their lives and leaned heavily on one another for support. Divorces, marriages, and relationships were discussed in depth. Their bond as a family was evident in how they handled both personal and business dealings.
Fast forward 12 years, and it seems the close relationships they once shared no longer exist. According to a Reddit user, “I would love to see what the family dynamic is really like now. The show used to be so family-oriented and now we don’t really see much about their relationships with each other.” This seems to be the consensus among long-time fans of “KUWTK.”
The relationships of the Kardashian klan
Viewers of “KUWTK” have noticed the distance that has formed over the years between Kylie and Kendall. One Reddit user noted, “They barely seem like friends, much less sisters.”
Fans recently discussed how all of the girls are focusing their energy on their own families instead of each other now. As more kids are introduced into the fold, the dynamic that once made the show a hit is starting to dissolve.
The close bond has been replaced with the issues of parenting and the struggles that come with that responsibility. Viewers are missing the good old days of sibling rivalry playing out on the small screen.
How viewers feel the show has changed
A lot of viewers feel the show has changed and is no longer relatable. They feel that in the early years, it was easy to get to know each girl individually while growing up beside them.
That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, yet viewers remain fascinated by the antics of the Kardashian family. “KUWTK” received the People’s Choice Award for the best reality show of 2019. So, despite their differences, the show still seems to work, at least for now.
The future of ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’
With rumors constantly surfacing about infighting, it is hard to predict how long the show will continue. Each sister has become successful in her own right and may have just outgrown the show altogether.
Time will tell if the girls will leave the fame of their reality television series to pursue other business ventures. Regardless of what they do, there is no doubt each girl will remain strong and fabulous in their own skin, with or without their sisters at their side.
