Kylie Jenner Is Being Dragged Over This ‘Hypocritical’ Instagram Post
Kylie Jenner can’t catch a break. Almost every day, there’s a new drama, whether it’s related to her relationships, parenting methods, or fashion choices. The latest controversy comes after the 22-year-old shared a post about the Australian wildfires — and then posted something that critics say totally conflicts with it. They’ve been online downright dragging the Kylie Cosmetics mogul, calling her “hypocritical,” out of touch, and more.
What Kylie Jenner posted
According to BuzzFeed, Jenner took to her Instagram Story on Jan. 6 to repost a message Kim Kardashian West had shared about the animals that have died in the Australian fires. The Huffington Post reports that the fires — which have been burning since September — could have claimed the lives of more than 1 billion animals. (The blaze has killed at least 25 people as of Jan. 6.)
Jenner added a caption to the post, writing, “this breaks my heart…”
Hours later, Jenner posted a photo of herself sporting a pair of mink Louis Vuitton slippers that retail at $1,500. The post prompted immediate and widespread criticism.
Social media users are slamming Kylie Jenner
Jenner’s post really hit a nerve with fans around the world. Many people just can’t understand how she could post about feeling so sad for all the animals that are dying and proceed to share a photo of herself wearing fur.
“Kylie posting about how she is feeling heartbroken about the death of animals in Australia due to fire and then posting her wearing a slipper made of minks fur is the biggest hypocrisy of 2020…” one person tweeted.
“kylie jenner really thought she was doing something when she posted being heart broken about half a billion animals dying in the australia fires and then proceeded to post a picture of her louis vuitton real mink fur slippers,” added another.
“imagine being this disconnected from reality,” someone else wrote.
Others, however, stuck up for Jenner.
In response to a critic, one person asked, “In what way does that affect you? y’all just mad cause she’s rich and always look for a reason to drag her YUP YUP YUP.”
“everyone is coming for kylie jenner’s neck because she’s wearing mink fur and claims to be saddened by the animal deaths in australia, but the funny thing is that most of y’all are doing the same thing,” another wrote.
It’s not the first time a Kardashian-Jenner has received backlash for wearing fur. In 2012, Kardashian West — who has been known to rock it — got flour-bombed at an event by a PETA activist.
It’s the latest in a string of controversies
As of late, Jenner has found herself in multiple dramas. On Jan. 3, she was accused of cultural appropriation after posting a photo of herself wearing twists — a style typically worn by black women. Jenner did not comment on the controversy, but as the backlash mounted, she deleted the picture.
She had also faced criticism on Dec. 29 after posting a racy photo of herself in bed. Fans felt the image was highly inappropriate and didn’t hesitate to let the reality star know. Even her ex-boyfriend, Travis Scott, seemed turned off by it.
And the list goes on.
Hopefully, this’ll be the end of the controversies. But all things considered, it probably won’t be.
