Most people with siblings can attest to how real sibling rivalry can be. But for Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner, that doesn’t really seem to be the case. Only two years apart in age, the famous sisters are wildly successful in their own right. Kylie Jenner is the most followed of all the KarJenners with an astronomical 161 million followers on Instagram alone. The 22-year-old is also a billionaire, courtesy of her lip-kit empire that she and her mother turned into Kylie Cosmetics. Kylie Jenner enjoys flaunting her wealth and sharing her luxury clothes, cars, and accessories with her millions of fans.

Kylie Jenner has never been one to shy away from attention. In fact, in a lot of ways, she practically demands it. She shares so much of her life with her fans. From her 2-year-old daughter, Stormi, to what she does on a day-to-day basis, to what her life is like as CEO of Kylie Cosmetics. There is no disputing that Kylie Jenner has been wildly successful. But, her older sister, Kendall Jenner is successful in her own right. Though Kendall Jenner is more reserved and seemingly more humble than her little sister, she has found massive success in the fashion industry as a model.

Gracing covers like Vogue and Elle, Kendall Jenner travels around the globe for high-profile jobs with huge brands like Dior and Calvin Klein. The 24-year-old is never far from a runway and in 2019 she was declared the highest-paid model in the world, earning a whopping 22.5 million dollars for the year. The model posts a lot less frequently than her little sister, but that hasn’t stopped her from gaining a massive following as well. She, herself, boasts 122 million Instagram followers. Despite the many difference of the Jenner sisters, the two seem to be as thick as thieves. But how do they avoid things like jealousy or comparing themselves to one another?
In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Kylie Jenner revealed that being completely different from her older sister actually helped them to not get jealous of one another. Since they both wanted wildly different things, there was never a time where the felt like they needed to be in competition with one another. “Kendall and I were so close in age. We had a close bond, but we are definitely polar opposites. But it works out. We don’t ever cross. She does her thing and I do mine, then we come together and have a great time,” the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star revealed.

Kendall Jenner agrees that she and her younger sister are stark opposites. “She likes black; I like white. My room was white and silver and gold, and hers was black, really dark. Kylie had a zebra pattern, and I had leopard. We responded to each other, so we would have our own thing. But we have similarities too; we’re definitely sisters,” the model declared. Kendall Jenner also recalls that Kylie Jenner has always craved the spotlight. “Kylie loved attention. She was obsessed with the Shakira song “Hips Don’t Lie,” and she would go up and put on a belly dancer outfit and come back and perform for everyone.” Kendall Jenner, on the other hand, didn’t covet the attention as much. ‘It was like, ‘Hey! Everybody watch Kylie … again!’ ” the elder Jenner recalled about how she reacted to her little sister.
Clearly, Kendall and Kylie Jenner are a case of opposites attracting. It’s great that the sisters have been able to maintain a supportive relationship with one another while navigating life in the spotlight. We might not be a fan of everything the KarJenners do, but at the end of the day, they’re fans of each other, which is likely what matters to them most.
