Kylie Jenner Might Be the Only Kardashian-Jenner Sister on Taylor Swift’s Side
The music community is abuzz again with a controversy many had thought was over. Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West, and Taylor Swift’s seemingly never-ending drama has entered a new chapter, and once again people are taking sides.
Naturally, there are people who are loyal to the stars they support, no matter what. Family members definitely fall into that camp, and the Kar/Jenner clan is no exception. They are solidly on the side of West and Kardashian, making it clear to everyone that the family has their backs.
Or do they?
A closer look shows that there’s at least one member of the Kar/Jenners that might not be fully on board. Kylie Jenner hasn’t made any statements about the famous feud, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t sending a message.
This is the feud that never ends
West and Taylor had friction between them going all the way back to 2009. He famously interrupted her acceptance speech for best female video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, insisting that Beyoncé had the best music video ever. West later apologized, and the stars seemed to get over this awkward encounter as time went by.
The peace between them was shattered in 2016, when West released the song “Famous” with the lyric that referred to the VMA incident. “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that b*tch famous.”
As you’d imagine, Taylor wasn’t impressed, and she made it known. This started a heated debate between the two sides, with West insisting he’d cleared the lyric with Taylor ahead of time, and Taylor denying he had.
Kardashian West, who has had plenty of practice with defending West’s behavior, jumped in on her husband’s side, and she released a few snippets from a recording of a call between him and Swift. The clips seemed to back up West’s claim that he’d asked for her blessing, making her look like she was claiming to be a victim when she wasn’t. Although she insisted he hadn’t asked her specifically about calling her a “b*tch,” people still criticized Swift harshly, calling her a snake.
The Kar/Jenners defend their own – mostly
Last month someone leaked the full tape of that infamous phone call, and when you hear the whole thing, Swift seems to have been telling the truth all along. West didn’t tell her he would call her a bitch – in fact, at one point she says she’s relieved because she worried “it was gonna be like that stupid dumb bitch, like, but it’s not.”
Naturally, this reignited the whole firestorm. Many people felt the new information vindicated Swift and put West and Kardashian in a pretty bad light.
Of course, that doesn’t include the Kar/Jenner family. They have been vocal in the couple’s defense. Khloe took to Twitter, responding to Kardashian’s tweets defending herself, calling her “My sister AND my lawyer!” Khloe and Kendall liked every tweet from Kardashian about the feud. It seemed as though West and Kardashian had the full support of the whole family.
Almost.
Kylie Jenner has stayed silent
During this most recent round of accusations and denials, Jenner has been conspicuously quiet. It’s possible that she’s just being discreet; she’s certainly shown that she’s able to keep mum when she wants to. But some fans wonder if her silence is sending a message. Is she actually on Swift’s side in this fight?
It might be a little fast to jump to such a conclusion, except for one little detail: as of April 1, long after this controversy returned, Jenner is still following Swift on Twitter. If she’s not making any statements in support of her sister and brother-in-law, can that tiny show of support be interpreted as Jenner picking her side?
We may never know, but if she has any phone conversations with them about it she probably should think about recording every word.
