Kylie Jenner Once Revealed She Was Scared of Mom Kris Jenner Growing Up
Kylie Jenner might have a close relationship with her mom Kris Jenner, but she admitted there was a time when she thought her mom was “scary.” During her reality show Life of Kylie, the beauty mogul revealed that she was scared of her mom growing up. That might have been the case when she was a kid, but the mother-daughter duo are tighter than ever now.
The old quote came up when fans were talking about Kris
In a Reddit post where fans discussed whether or not Kris is a narcissist and the times she’s displayed that behavior, one Redditor brought up the old quote about Kylie being afraid of her mom.
“Didn’t Kylie say something (in Life of Kylie) along the lines of that she was afraid of Kris her entire childhood until she started Kylie Cosmetics because her financial situation and fame changed drastically?,” they commented.
When a stunned fan asked, “Omg really?? She said that?,” they responded, “I can’t remember the exact quote, but it was the part in the series where Kris comes to see Kylie and her friends/employees and Kylie did a talking head about how her friends are always tense and afraid when Kris is around and she knows how they feel because she was afraid of Kris too but since they started working on Kylie Cosmetics, they’ve become more like friends.”
They added, “I’ve always thought it was because Kris could see the power dynamic change between the two of them.”
Kylie did admit her mom used to be scary
The Redditor has an excellent memory because Kylie did, in fact, admit that her mom was low-key terrifying when she was younger.
During the 2017 show Life of Kylie, the beauty mogul revealed that her relationship with Kris was more difficult in the past.
In the clip, Kylie’s assistant Victoria is working to change Kylie’s travel plans which adds time to Kris’ itinerary and Kylie wants Victoria to talk to her mom about it. It’s clear that it makes them both uneasy to have to approach Kris with this information.
“It was going to be a one-way, easy flight and then I get a text from Kylie saying, ‘Actually I’m gonna fly to Miami. Can you ask my mom if the plane can pick me up?,'” Victoria says. “This adds five hours of travel time to Kris Jenner’s flight. No way. Like no way am I gonna ask your mom. Are you kidding? I was terrified of asking Kris.”
Victoria wants Kylie to run it by her mom, considering that the news coming from her daughter will likely go over better. Kylie isn’t so sure, however, telling Victoria, “So you have to help me with this because I’m scared.”
“I was scared of my mom growing up,” Kylie admits. “She was really scary. She still is scary but now we have more of a friendship.”
Their relationship has changed for the better
Though Kylie might have found her mom scary when she was growing up, her relationship with her mother has evolved as time has gone on.
“When I became a mother, my perspective on life completely changed, and so did how I look at my own mum and appreciate all the things that she’s done for me,” Kylie shared during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. “Now I can understand the way that she feels about me, the way that she loves me, and how strong her love is for all her kids, because of how obsessed I am with Stormi.”
Kris shared her perspective on their relationship during the interview as well, noting, “We’ve always been very connected emotionally and spiritually and have this incredibly strong bond. But I think as we both get older, our relationship shifts a bit.”
She continued, “And for me, I just want her to know that I’m always here to guide her and help her with whatever she needs, rather than it always being, you know, the way it used to be back in the day. Our relationship changes every few years.”
