Kylie Jenner’s Relationship With Tyga Still Weirds People Out
Kylie Jenner is in the news again these days — this time over accusations of misrepresenting her status as a billionaire. But this certainly isn’t the first time she has been the subject of negative press.
By the time she turned 18, she was already rumored to be in a relationship that had lots of people concerned. Although that relationship, with rapper Tyga, has been over for more than three years, some fans still wonder about what exactly happened there, and if it was as disturbing as it seems.
Kylie Jenner was only 14 when she met Tyga
In 2011, Tyga performed at Kendall Jenner’s sweet 16 birthday party. Kylie was only 14 at the time, while Tyga was 22, but she was spotted flirting somewhat awkwardly with him.
It would be easy to dismiss the moment as a young girl with a crush on an older man, but it didn’t stop there. Three years later, Tyga started showing up in Kylie’s Instagram posts, then a video surfaced of him giving her a shot of tequila on her 17th birthday.
Shortly after that birthday celebration, Tyga broke up with the mother of his son, Blac Chyna. She has since said that although Tyga didn’t cheat on her, his relationship with Kylie did hasten their breakup.
Despite the fact that Tyga and Kylie were seen together frequently and shared pictures of each other on social media, they maintained that they were not dating.
Kylie’s brother-in-law Kanye West didn’t help their cover when he said in a radio interview that they were in love and called it a “smart move” on Tyga’s part to get involved with Kylie so young.
During this time when they were supposedly not romantically involved they did things like go on a date together to see the steamy movie 50 Shades of Gray. Tyga got a tattoo Kylie’s name, and he was included in important Kar/Jenner family events. When Kylie turned 18, Tyga bought her a Ferrari, and the couple became Instagram official.
An official couple with plenty of troubles
But if the happy couple thought that making their love public was going to mean they would have an easy time, they were wrong. They were dogged by rumors that Tyga was unfaithful.
The two of them reportedly broke up and got back together multiple times, although in keeping with the rest of their relationship they were very hush-hush about what was happening.
One of the most damaging stories of Tyga’s infidelity, according to Heat World, came from a 14-year-old girl named Molly O’Malia who said Tyga contacted her through Instagram.
Tyga’s representatives claimed that he thought the girl was 17 or 18, and he was only interested in signing her to his record label. Considering that 14 is how old Kylie was when they met, that one must have been especially disturbing.
After multiple cycles of breaking up and getting back together, the couple finally called it quits for good in 2017. In 2018 Kylie had her daughter Stormi with then-boyfriend Travis Scott, and many people think her life has been on a better course since that time.
Fans still wonder about Tyga
Kylie may have moved on, but her fans aren’t quite ready to let the relationship go. Not because they want the two to get back together; because they’re still not sure it was a good idea at all. In a recent discussion on Reddit, viewers shared their theories about what happened between them.
“I think tyga played a big role in Kylie’s drastic plastic surgery transformation in her late teens. He straight up groomed her since…he performed at Kendall’s birthday party,” one said. Another person chimed in, “Completely agree with you about Tyga grooming Kylie. He should have never been allowed to be around her :(“
Although there’s no proof that Tyga was involved with Kylie as far back as Kendall’s 16th birthday party, many people believe that there’s ample evidence that the older man had an unhealthy influence on Kylie.
“When they broke up right around the time she first got with Travis, he said on Nicki Minaj’s podcast (something like that) about how he ‘made’ Kylie and that she’d be nothing without him, and how he made her look the way she is so that black people would like her. He completely groomed her!”
We may never know exactly what happened between Kylie and Tyga. Their 8-year age difference only looks more disturbing the earlier their relationship might have begun. Hopefully, Kylie is able to put whatever negativity she got from the relationship behind her and look to the future.
