Kyra Sedgwick Says She Wasn’t Invited Back to Tom Cruise House After This Embarrassing Incident
They say curiosity killed the cat, but in Kyra Sedgwick’s case, it caused her to lose future invites to Tom Cruise’s house.
While recently appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star told the rather embarrassing story about how she “didn’t get invited back” to the fellow actor’s home after being a nosy dinner guest.
Kyra Sedgwick pressed Tom Cruise’s panic button while having dinner at his house
On Apr. 13, Sedgwick stopped by The Drew Barrymore Show, where she told the story of how she seemingly got banned from Cruise’s home in the 1990s.
“It’s a pretty good story,” she said. “It was a sad moment, but it was a funny story.”
The Call Your Mother star recounted how Cruise had invited her over to his house to watch a screening of his 1992 film A Few Good Men, which he co-starred in with her husband, Kevin Bacon.
“So I was pregnant, I was very pregnant, and we got invited over to dinner. I had worked with Tom [on Born On The Fourth Of July] but Kev was doing [A Few Good Men],” Sedgwick recalled. “So we got invited over for dinner with lots of famous people like Demi Moore and Bruce Willis because she was in the movie. Rob Reiner was there. It was a flow, and Nicole [Kidman] was there.”
At one point during the night, Sedgwick found a mysterious button in Cruise’s home and, naturally, was curious to know what it was for.
“It was one of those nights that I often don’t get invited to and so there was this like fireplace mantle and I was looking around and there was this little button underneath the mantle,” she told Barrymore. “I was like, ‘Oh what is that little button?’ So I pressed the little button because I thought maybe something interesting will happen. Nothing happened and then I got a little nervous.”
Kyra Sedgwick says she never got invited back to Tom Cruise’s home after that
When nothing happened after she pressed the mystery button, Sedgwick turned to Cruise to find out what exactly it was for.
“So I tapped Tom on the shoulder, who was in the middle of a story, and I said, ‘I pressed this button down here.’ And he was like, ‘You pressed that button?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I pressed that button.’ And he goes, ‘That’s the panic button.'”
But the story didn’t end there.
According to Sedgwick, about five cop cars came to the Top Gun actor’s home, and they had to stop the movie screening.
“I didn’t get invited back,” she shared, smiling.
Kyra Sedgewick also touched upon her bikini wax gone wrong
In addition to opening up about that embarrassing incident at Cruise’s home, Sedgwick shared another story about how her husband once tried to give her a bikini wax.
According to the actor, she enlisted Bacon’s help because he was good at many things and believed he would know his way around a waxing kit.
“The thing is, is that Kev is just good at so many things,” Sedgwick told Barrymore. “He’s so handy around the house that I just thought, ‘How hard could it be?'”
As it turns out, she was very much mistaken because the bikini wax attempt quickly went awry.
“I can’t go into the details, but there was a moment where I thought, ‘I can’t pull the strip off,'” Sedgwick said. “Neither one of us could figure out how to pull it off. Do we need to go to the hospital?”
Luckily for Sedgwick, she didn’t have to see a medical professional as she and Bacon eventually got the wax strip off of her.
Moral of the story: Don’t let your significant other give you a bikini wax — it’s just a recipe for disaster.
